Lucca Franco’s Villa
Borgo a Mozzano, ItalyFirst Impressions
Tucked away in the charming village of Diecimo, Lucca Franco’s Villa feels like stumbling upon a well-kept secret. I’ll be honest — when I first pulled up to this place on Via del Santo, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from an unrated property. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that don’t need official stars to shine. The villa has this authentic Tuscan charm that immediately puts you at ease, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels more like a local’s home than a commercial hotel.
Location & Village Life
Diecimo isn’t your typical tourist hotspot, and that’s exactly what makes it special. This little village sits perfectly between Lucca and the Garfagnana mountains — close enough to explore the famous city walls and piazzas, but far enough to escape the crowds. What really struck me was how couples seem to gravitate toward this area (they consistently rate the location highly), and I get it. There’s something romantic about wandering these quiet streets in the evening, maybe grabbing dinner at one of the local trattorias where you’re likely the only tourists. Plus, having free parking right on site is honestly a godsend when you’re exploring this part of Tuscany by car.
The Villa Experience
The villa itself has that lived-in Italian elegance that you just can’t fake. Franco clearly takes pride in maintaining the property — everything feels well-cared for without being overly polished. The rooms have character, with those thick walls that keep things cool during summer days and details that remind you you’re staying in a real Italian home. I mean, this isn’t a place with endless amenities or a concierge desk, but it has something better: authenticity. The atmosphere is relaxed and personal, which honestly beats sterile hotel perfection any day.
Morning Rituals
Breakfast here is proper Italian style — none of that international buffet nonsense you get at chain hotels. They serve up genuine local flavors alongside more familiar options, and eating on the terrace (if weather permits) while looking out over the Tuscan countryside is pretty much perfect. The buffet setup means you can take your time, maybe have that second espresso while planning your day. It’s the kind of morning routine that makes you want to slow down and actually enjoy being on vacation instead of rushing off to tick boxes on a sightseeing list.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to Lucca Franco’s Villa is that rare combination of genuine hospitality and strategic location. You’re getting an authentic slice of Italian life without sacrificing comfort or convenience. The high guest ratings speak for themselves — this place consistently delivers on creating memorable stays, especially for couples looking for something more intimate than your typical hotel experience. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out, already missing those peaceful mornings and the warm welcome that makes you feel like part of the family.

Guest Reviews
We stayed in a beautiful apartment in a stunningly restructured and tastefully decorated old house . The location was absolutely dreamy — peaceful, scenic, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The breakfast was delicious, the rooms were comfortable. The lady at breakfast is very caring.
What could be improved: The bathroom is a little outdated and the shower is small
Check in easy! Great location, apartment spacious with everything you need, staff so welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Plenty for breakfast which is mainly traditional. I’m not a breakfast person, but I was able to take food away with me to eat later. Outdoor area was great and pool amazing!
What could be improved: Nothing not to like.
Absolutely perfect. Amazing holiday.😊

What could be improved: Nothing I didn’t like.
What could be improved: Nothing
We also highly recommend the restaurant Molin della Volpe di Fanucchi Luca & C. Sas, which is 6 minutes drive uphill and serves excellent food! We ate here twice, and both sea food as well as the Truffle pasta were excellent! The staff is very friendly and although English is not well spoken here, still with hand gestures and facial expressions you will get far enough to experience true Italian hospitality!
Great breakfast served in a beautifully interesting room......the old cellars perhaps?.....staffed by a most professional, very polite and helpful young chap.
Easy to find.......just seconds away from main road yet situated in a quiet and characteristic residential area.
What could be improved: Paper cups for complementary teas in room....... forgiven but not forgotten 😉
