Dimora Salviati
Florence, ItalyYou know what caught me off guard about Dimora Salviati? It’s this gorgeous restored palazzo tucked away in Campo Di Marte, and honestly, most tourists have no idea this neighborhood exists. I mean, everyone’s fighting for rooms in the centro storico, but here you are about fifteen minutes from the Duomo with actual breathing room and β get this β you can usually find street parking if you’re brave enough to drive in Florence.
The building itself is stunning, one of those classic Florentine palazzos with proper frescoed ceilings and marble floors that feel cool under your feet even in August. The rooms are spacious by Italian standards (and I mean actually spacious, not just “charming and cozy” real estate speak), with these massive windows that let in incredible light. What I really appreciated was the attention to detail β the linens are genuinely nice, the bathrooms have those rainfall showers that actually work, and they’ve managed to blend historical elements with modern comfort without making it feel like a museum. The WiFi is solid too, which honestly can be hit-or-miss even in nice Italian hotels.
Campo Di Marte is where real Florentines live, you know? There’s this fantastic morning market at Sant’Ambrogio just a short walk away where you’ll hear more Italian than English, and the coffee bars actually know how to make a proper cappuccino without rolling their eyes at tourists. The Stadio Artemio Franchi is right there if you’re into football, and you’re also close to the English Cemetery and Synagogue β areas that feel authentically Florence without the crowds. Getting to the main sights is easy enough β the bus system works well from this area, or it’s a pleasant twenty-minute walk through residential streets to reach the Duomo. Actually, I preferred staying here because you get to see how the city really lives, with locals doing their shopping and kids playing in the small piazzas.
The staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than going through the motions, and check-in was smooth even when I arrived earlier than expected. Breakfast is served in this beautiful room with original architectural details, and while it’s not groundbreaking, it’s a solid Italian breakfast with good coffee and fresh pastries. The whole place just feels well-run β not flashy or trying too hard, but comfortable and authentic. For the price point, especially considering you’re still in Florence proper, it’s honestly a great find. The 9.2 rating makes total sense when you experience it firsthand.

What could be improved: Nothing I can think of
The breakfast is delicious and plentiful, the rooms are wonderful and the terrace is a lovely place to enjoy a morning coffee or evening wine! The area is peaceful but very near to the bustling city center with a 20min walk.
What could be improved: Nothing!
Our room was the one with this large balcony on the front in the picture above and the aroma of the orange trees outside in the morning with our coffees, and the beautiful hills to the side with the lush green hills and cypress trees , truly made us know we were now in Tuscany but without the hustle and bustle of beautiful Florence only a few minutes away π₯°
Breakfast was so delicious and these hosts were so helpful with our bus tickets and suggestions that our stay here for two nights before getting our car was truly a memorable and lovely experience .
What could be improved: Not a negative thing to say .
