Villa Neroli
First Impressions
Walking up to Villa Neroli on Via Gabriele D’Annunzio, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t your typical four-star hotel. The building has this elegant residential feel — honestly, it looks more like a sophisticated Florentine villa than a commercial property. I mean, the Campo Di Marte neighborhood itself is refreshingly quiet compared to the tourist chaos around the Duomo, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. The entrance feels intimate and welcoming, which sets the tone for the entire experience.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying in Campo Di Marte — you get to experience Florence like locals do, without sacrificing accessibility. The area has this authentic residential vibe with tree-lined streets and actual Florentines going about their daily lives. You’re about a 15-minute walk to the historic center, but honestly, the tram connection makes it even easier if you don’t feel like walking. What’s really smart about this location is that couples seem to absolutely love it (and I can see why) — there’s something romantic about being tucked away in this quieter corner of the city while still having everything within reach.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had this perfect balance of modern comfort and Italian style that you don’t always find in Florence hotels. The space felt thoughtfully designed rather than just decorated — you know what I mean? There’s attention to detail in the furnishings and layout that makes you want to actually spend time in the space, not just crash there between sightseeing. The bathrooms are well-appointed, and I particularly appreciated how quiet everything was despite being on a main street. The soundproofing is actually impressive for a building of this style.
Breakfast & Practical Perks
The breakfast spread here is honestly one of the better ones I’ve encountered in Florence — they’ve got this great mix of continental classics, proper Italian options, and they actually cater well to different dietary needs with vegetarian and gluten-free choices. It’s served buffet-style, but it doesn’t feel rushed or chaotic like some hotel breakfasts can. And here’s something that’ll save you both money and headaches: they have free private parking right at the hotel. If you’ve ever tried to park in Florence, you’ll understand why this is basically like striking gold.
Why Guests Love It
What really strikes me about Villa Neroli is how it manages to feel both sophisticated and unpretentious at the same time. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work well, and there’s this sense that they’ve thought through the practical stuff that matters to travelers. The combination of the peaceful neighborhood setting, the thoughtful amenities, and that high guest rating (which honestly reflects the reality of staying here) makes it feel like you’ve discovered something special. It’s the kind of place where you can have a proper Florence experience without feeling like you’re constantly fighting crowds or compromising on comfort.
