Wine Resort Dievole
Vagliagli, ItalyYou know those hotels that look amazing online but feel kind of soulless when you actually show up? Well, Wine Resort Dievole is basically the opposite of that. I mean, sure, the photos are gorgeous, but they don’t really capture how this place just feels right from the moment you drive up that winding cypress-lined road in Vagliagli. The setting is honestly ridiculous – like someone picked the most perfect spot in Chianti and decided to build a resort there.
The thing about Dievole is that it’s actually a working wine estate first, hotel second, and you can tell. There’s this authentic energy here that you don’t get at those polished luxury places where everything feels a bit too pristine. The rooms are in these restored stone buildings that are scattered around the property, so it feels more like you’re staying in a Tuscan village than a hotel. My room had these thick walls that kept everything beautifully cool even in August, and honestly, the silence at night was almost startling after being in Florence. The staff actually knows about wine (shocking, I know) and they’re not just reciting scripts – they’ll chat about the harvest or recommend bottles based on what you actually like, not what’s most expensive.
What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to make it feel exclusive without being pretentious. The pool area overlooks these rolling vineyard hills that change color throughout the day, and there’s usually just a handful of people around – never that resort crowd vibe. The restaurant sources everything locally, and I mean actually locally, not just “regional Italian cuisine.” You can literally see the vines that produced the wine you’re drinking with dinner. Check-in was refreshingly low-key too – no marble lobby drama, just friendly people who seem genuinely happy you’re there. The only thing that might bug some people is that it’s about a 20-minute drive to anything resembling a town, but honestly, that’s kind of the point. You’re here to disconnect and drink really good wine while staring at some of the most beautiful countryside in Italy. With a 9.5 rating, it’s clearly not just me who thinks they’ve nailed it.

What could be improved: Can be a little remote.
What could be improved: Nothing!
What could be improved: Nothing. It was a little oasis for a couple of days.
We absolutely loved every moment of our stay—this place is nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The rooms were modern, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable.
But what truly made the experience unforgettable was the genuine warmth and kindness of the staff. Every single person we encountered was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Their thoughtful gestures and attention to detail made a real difference—from personalized recommendations to simply checking in to ensure we were enjoying our stay.
And then… the views! The resort itself is breathtaking—nestled among rolling vineyards and majestic mountains, it’s like stepping into a postcard.
We spent hours at the stunning infinity pool, soaking in the panoramic views of the vineyards and serene landscape. It was so peaceful and beautiful that we ended up cancelling our planned day trip just to enjoy more time at the resort—and we’re so glad we did.
The restaurant was a highlight in itself. We dined there twice, and every single dish we tried was flawless—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. And of course, the wine! Every glass came with a story, with the staff explaining exactly which vineyard each bottle came from, adding a wonderful personal touch to the tasting experience.
In short, this was an amazing and heartwarming experience—relaxing, luxurious, and truly memorable. We can’t wait to return and relive the magic!
What could be improved: nothing
What could be improved: Not a negative- but there are a couple of ways into the property. One is easier than the other. We were sent down a long winding gravel road by google maps when we first arrived and were sure we were going the wrong way! The other way in is far easier driving wise.
What could be improved: Insects in the room at ceiling.
And the staff at lunch was a bit not nice.
What could be improved: Liked it all!
What could be improved: Take away breakfast was below standards
Well done staff
