Agriturismo Amina, Winery & Hiking
First Impressions
When I first pulled up the winding drive to Agriturismo Amina, Winery & Hiking, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect — but the moment I saw those rolling Tuscan hills stretching endlessly beyond the property, I knew this was going to be something special. This four-star gem sits right in the heart of Chianti country, and you can literally smell the vineyards from your car window. The whole place has this authentic farmhouse feel that you just can’t fake, with weathered stone walls and that perfect golden light that makes everything look like a Renaissance painting.
Location & Setting
The location in Vagliagli is absolutely brilliant — you’re tucked away from the tourist crowds but still close enough to explore Siena (about 20 minutes) when you want some city culture. What I love most is how the property feels completely integrated into the landscape. You’ve got hiking trails that start literally at your doorstep, winding through olive groves and vineyards that have been here for centuries. The parking is free and right on-site, which honestly saved me a headache since some agriturismos make you park down the hill and hike up with your luggage.
The Room Experience
My room had this wonderful rustic-meets-comfortable vibe — exposed wooden beams overhead, terracotta floors that stay cool even in summer, and windows that frame the countryside like living artwork. The beds are actually really comfortable (not always a given at working farms), and the bathrooms are modern enough that you don’t feel like you’re roughing it. What really got me was stepping out onto the little terrace each morning with my coffee, watching the mist lift off the vineyards while the sun came up.
Dining & Wine
The breakfast here is something else — they do this incredible spread with local cheeses, fresh bread, homemade jams, and honestly some of the best coffee I had in Tuscany. They’ve got options for pretty much everyone too, including vegan and gluten-free choices that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The restaurant serves dinner a few nights a week using ingredients from their own gardens, and you can pair everything with wines they actually produce right there on the property. I mean, how often do you get to drink wine while looking at the exact vines it came from?
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place work is that perfect balance between authentic farm life and actual comfort — you’re not sacrificing modern amenities for the experience. The hiking trails are well-marked and lead to some incredible viewpoints (bring your camera), and the staff genuinely knows the area well enough to point you toward hidden gems. Couples especially seem to fall for this place, and I can see why — there’s something incredibly romantic about sharing a bottle of the house wine while watching sunset paint the hills gold. It’s the kind of spot where you actually unwind, not just take photos for Instagram.
