Sanlucchese 2
Poggibonsi, ItalyLook, I’ll be straight with you about Sanlucchese 2 – it’s one of those places that surprises you in the best way possible. When I first pulled up to this five-star spot in Poggibonsi, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from the town itself (let’s face it, most people just pass through on their way to San Gimignano or Siena). But this hotel? It gets it right in ways that matter.
The thing about staying here is that you’re actually positioned perfectly for exploring Tuscany without dealing with the tourist circus of the more famous hill towns. I mean, you can walk to the medieval fortress ruins right from the hotel – most visitors have no idea Poggibonsi even has this incredible 14th-century site. The staff didn’t just point me toward the obvious attractions; they mentioned that the Saturday morning market near Piazza Mazzini is where locals actually shop, and that the vineyards along the Staggia road offer tastings without the crowds you’ll find closer to Greve. These are the kinds of insights that make a difference.
What really won me over was the attention to details that actually affect your stay. The parking situation is sorted (trust me, this matters in Tuscany), the rooms are genuinely quiet despite being close to the main roads, and the breakfast spread includes local specialties alongside the standard hotel fare. You know what I appreciated most? They stock proper Italian coffee in the rooms – not those weird international pods you get at chain hotels. The 7.8 rating makes sense when you experience it; it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top luxurious, but everything works smoothly. Check-in was quick, the Wi-Fi actually functions throughout the building, and the housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work. I stayed during late spring when the weather was perfect for exploring, and the hotel felt busy but not chaotic – there’s something to be said for a place that attracts travelers who know what they want rather than just tourists hitting the obvious spots. If you’re planning a Tuscan trip and want to experience the region like someone who lives here rather than just passing through, this is your base camp.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: De weg naar de locatie. Meubilair was gedateerd in de huiskamer. Keuken inrichting was minimaal. Douchegordijn was vies.
What could be improved: - keuken onvolledig ingericht, putjeslucht rondom gootsteen
- lampen defect
What could be improved: Der sehr holprige Weg zur Unterkunft.
What could be improved: The only thing I didnt like is it did seem a bit odd to have a fairly steep cleaning fee and then still have to take out my own garbage? Seems like that is part of the "cleaning". Also the dirt road to the property is not good and I'm glad I didn't have a smaller car or I might have had some trouble. Might be worth warning guests.
What could be improved: dodatkowa opłata za gaz
