Room Mate Collection Isabella, Florence
Florence, ItalyYou know what? I’ve walked past this place on Via de’ Tornabuoni dozens of times before finally staying here, and honestly, I was kicking myself for waiting so long. The Room Mate Isabella sits right in the heart of Florence’s luxury shopping district – I mean, you’re literally steps from Gucci, Prada, and all those flagship stores that make your credit card nervous. But here’s the thing that actually matters: you’re also just a five-minute walk from the Duomo, and the Santa Maria Novella train station is close enough that you can roll your suitcase there without breaking a sweat.
The building itself has this gorgeous historic facade that blends seamlessly with the medieval streetscape, but step inside and – whoa – it’s like entering a modern art gallery. The lobby has this striking contemporary design with bold colors and sleek furniture that somehow doesn’t feel out of place in a Renaissance city. I was a bit skeptical about the whole “design hotel” concept at first, but they’ve actually nailed it. The rooms are spacious by Florence standards (and trust me, that’s saying something), with these huge windows that flood everything with natural light. My room overlooked the street, which can get a bit noisy during the day with all the foot traffic and delivery trucks, but by evening it settles into that pleasant hum of people wandering around with gelato. The air conditioning works like a dream too – crucial if you’re visiting during those sweltering July and August months when Florence turns into a furnace.
What really won me over was the attention to detail and the staff’s genuine enthusiasm. The concierge team knows their stuff about the city’s hidden gems – they pointed me toward this incredible little osteria tucked away near Santo Spirito that I never would have found on my own. The breakfast spread is solid, nothing groundbreaking but fresh pastries and good coffee, which is honestly all you need before a day of museum hopping. The location means you can easily walk to the Uffizi or Palazzo Pitti, though I’d recommend booking those tickets well in advance regardless of where you stay. One small thing – the elevator is pretty tiny, so if you’re traveling with massive suitcases, you might need to make a couple trips. But honestly, for a 4-star hotel in this location with a 9.2 rating, you’re getting exceptional value. Florence has plenty of cookie-cutter hotels and overpriced tourist traps, but the Isabella strikes that perfect balance between modern comfort and authentic Florentine charm. Plus, ending your day with an aperitivo at one of the nearby wine bars and then just strolling back to your stylish room? That’s the kind of travel experience that sticks with you.

What could be improved: It can be quite noisy outside in the streets in the evening. The air conditioning was not turned on yet for the season.
What could be improved: You have to go up one floor of stairs to get to the elevator. It is not a problem but might be for some guests.
What could be improved: Selection at the breakfast could have been better, but it did not bother us.
What could be improved: could of done with a smart tv
Bed was very comfortable and the bath room was very big.
