Relais Villa Grazianella | UNA Esperienze
Montepulciano, ItalyFirst Impressions
You know what hits you first about Relais Villa Grazianella | UNA Esperienze? It’s not just another converted villa — this place actually feels like someone’s elegant family estate that happens to welcome guests. The moment you pull up the tree-lined drive in Acquaviva, you’re already in a different world from the typical Tuscan tourist trail. I mean, the setting is so perfectly tucked away that you’d drive right past it if you weren’t looking for it, which honestly makes discovering it feel even more special.
Location & Setting
Acquaviva isn’t one of those postcard-famous Tuscan towns, and that’s exactly why couples seem to fall hard for this spot. You’re nestled in genuine countryside here — rolling hills, cypress groves, the whole nine yards — but without the tour buses that clog up places like San Gimignano. The villa sits on grounds that feel expansive without being overwhelming, and there’s something about the way the morning light hits the gardens that makes you want to linger over coffee way longer than usual. Recent guests consistently rave about the location, and after spending time here, I totally get why.
The Rooms
Each room feels thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter decorated, if that makes sense. The spaces blend traditional Tuscan elements — think exposed beams and terracotta floors — with modern comfort in a way that doesn’t feel forced. What I really appreciated was how quiet everything is; the thick walls and thoughtful layout mean you’re not hearing your neighbors or random hotel noise. The bathrooms are particularly well done, with good water pressure (always a concern in older Italian properties) and those little touches that show someone actually cares about the guest experience.
Dining & Atmosphere
The restaurant situation here is more intimate than grand, which works perfectly for the villa’s scale. They focus on local ingredients — and I mean truly local, not just “regional Italian” — prepared with the kind of care you’d expect from a place that’s earned a 9.5 rating from guests. Breakfast is served in a sun-drenched room that overlooks the gardens, and honestly, it’s the kind of setting that makes you want to plan your whole day around lingering there. The evening atmosphere shifts to something more romantic, with soft lighting that makes the dining spaces feel like you’re eating in a friend’s beautifully appointed home.
Why Guests Love It
This isn’t a place for travelers who want constant entertainment or a buzzing social scene — it’s for people who appreciate understated elegance and genuine tranquility. The staff strikes that perfect balance of being attentive without hovering, and they clearly know the area well enough to point you toward hidden gems you’d never find on your own. Couples especially seem drawn to the romantic atmosphere and the sense of having discovered something special together. With that 9.5 guest rating, Relais Villa Grazianella delivers on the promise of an authentic Tuscan escape without the crowds or pretension you might expect elsewhere.

The rolling hills were spectacular!
In terms of value, our experience exceeded all expectations. Every aspect of our stay, from the exquisite amenities to the unparalleled service, justified the cost and left us with no regrets, only gratitude for choosing this remarkable destination. We had breakfast and dinner meals every day of our stay!
In sum, our stay will forever hold a special place in our hearts--a gift 🎁🍀💫. We HIGHLY recommend this magical retreat to anyone seeking a memorable and and idyllic escape!
What could be improved: This hotel has a lot of potential to be even better. Some of the misses at this place - was that I had requested for some activities to be planned ahead for my husband’s birthday which they agreed but only to find out that they couldn’t fulfill them when we were onsite. They also recommended us to go to a thermal spa one of the days which was closed when we arrive - it was a wasted trip made.
What could be improved: Carpets at the room needs maintenance, the air conditioner was kind of old and not enough for the hot weather during summer.
Also, the staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was outstanding.
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: Needs more variety for breakfast & better internet
