You know what struck me first about LHP River Club? It’s tucked away on Via del Ghirlandaio – and I mean properly tucked away, not just marketing speak. Most tourists are rushing past this little street to get to the Arno, but honestly, that’s exactly why this place works so beautifully. You’re literally steps from Lungarno del Tempio, which gives you those postcard river views without the chaos of Ponte Vecchio crowds trampling past your morning coffee.

The building itself has this understated elegance that feels genuinely Florentine – none of that over-the-top luxury hotel nonsense you see everywhere else. Walking in, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s hard to find in Florence’s city center. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day (rare these days), and check-in was refreshingly smooth. I’ve stayed at plenty of five-star places that make you feel like you’re interrupting their day, but not here. The rooms have these gorgeous high ceilings and original details that remind you you’re in a Renaissance city, but everything’s been updated thoughtfully. The bathrooms are particularly well done – marble that doesn’t feel cold, and water pressure that actually works, which… well, anyone who’s stayed in historic Italian hotels knows that’s not always guaranteed.

What really sets this place apart though is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re close enough to Santo Spirito that you can wander over for aperitivo without planning your whole evening around it, and the walk to the Oltrarno artisan workshops is maybe ten minutes if you’re strolling slowly. But here’s the thing – and this is something you only notice after staying a few days – the street is genuinely quiet at night. In Florence, that’s gold. You can actually sleep with the windows open in spring and fall. The nearby restaurants aren’t tourist traps either; there’s this little place around the corner where locals actually eat, and the hotel concierge (who’s been there forever) will point you toward the good stuff without making you feel like you need a reservation three weeks in advance. I mean, the location just makes sense in a way that a lot of Florence hotels don’t – you’re in the mix but not overwhelmed by it. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because leaving feels unnecessarily complicated.
