So I stumbled onto B&B The Attico while looking for something different in Florence – you know, tired of the usual tourist traps near the Duomo. Via Gioberti 78 turned out to be this perfect little discovery that honestly feels more like staying at your stylish Italian friend’s apartment than a typical hotel. The location is brilliant, actually – you’re right in the Lungarno del Tempio area, which means you can walk to Santa Croce in about ten minutes, but you’re not dealing with the crowds of tour groups marching past your window at 7 AM.

What really got me was the “attico” part – it’s literally a penthouse setup, and I mean, the views are something else. You’re looking out over those classic Florentine rooftops, the kind with the terracotta tiles that look like they haven’t changed since the Renaissance (probably haven’t). The rooms have this authentic feel without being stuffy – like someone actually lives there and has good taste. The breakfast situation is properly Italian too, not some sad continental spread. They do that thing where the coffee is strong enough to wake the dead, and the pastries are from a local bakery, not some industrial supplier.

Here’s the practical stuff that matters: parking is tricky in this part of Florence (honestly, it’s tricky everywhere), but they’ll sort you out with directions to a garage nearby. The neighborhood gets lively in the evenings – there’s this wine bar just down the street that locals actually go to, not just tourists. You’ll hear some street noise, but it’s the good kind, like people enjoying themselves rather than traffic chaos. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be a luxury palace, but everything works well and feels genuine. Check-in was smooth, and the owners clearly know their city. They gave me restaurant recommendations that were spot-on, including this little trattoria in Santo Spirito that I never would have found otherwise. If you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Florence instead of just visiting it, this place delivers. Plus, you’re close enough to walk everywhere important but far enough from the madness around the main sights to actually get some sleep.

If there was an option to give 15 out of 10, we would choose it. The Attico was a huge surprise in the middle of the city. It is clean, modern and the host, Christina was wonderful! Friendly and very helpful. Our room was 5 star! Most comfortable bed yet in Italy. Room has a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. The terrace has a great view. Breakfast 10/10. Location within easy walking distance to all the attractions. Bus stops 140m from BnB. Supermaket just around the corner. Lift to the 5th floor a massive bonus if you have got luggage. We can definitely recommend The Attico. You will not be disappointed.

Great location only a short walk to the centre (about 15 minutes). Great residential area, the room is quiet at night with places to eat/drink close by. Lovely simple buffet breakfast served every day.
Could've just done with providing glasses for the room rather than plastic cups, a few extra pillows to select from and maybe drawers for your clothes as there's only shelves and hanging space.
Overall though very lovely and I'd stay there again.

BnB The Attico was an amazing stay in Florence! It was close to a lot of local shops and restaurants. You really felt like a local living in Florence. The staff had good communication regarding check in, the room was clean and overall great service. The view from outside the balcony is incredible! Breakfast was simple but had an ideal collection of the essentials that helps you not have to worry about having to organize the first meal of the day. It was relatively close to public transport but there is a little walking to be done to get to the hotel. The location was great to access all of Florence main attractions and it really is so easy to walk down any street and find a beautiful bistro, restaurant, pizzeria or a gelato place.
