Leopoldini Appartamenti
Florence, ItalyYou know what caught me off guard about Leopoldini Appartamenti? The moment I walked up Via Pompeo Neri, I realized I’d stumbled into one of those Florence neighborhoods that actually feels like people live there. Not the tourist-packed centro storico where you’re dodging selfie sticks every five steps, but the real Florence – where locals grab their morning cappuccino and kids play in the small piazzas. The Careggi-Rifredi area gets overlooked by most visitors, honestly, but that’s exactly why it works so well for this place.
The apartments themselves have this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake. I mean, you can tell they put thought into the details without going overboard – the kind of place where the kitchen actually has sharp knives and the shower pressure doesn’t make you want to cry. What really sold me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re still properly connected to the city center. The tram line 1 is basically around the corner, which I didn’t fully appreciate until I realized I could be at the Duomo in maybe 15 minutes without dealing with parking (trust me, don’t even think about driving in Florence’s center). There’s also this little alimentari two blocks down where the owner, this older guy with paint-stained fingers, somehow remembers everyone’s usual order after just a couple visits.
The whole setup makes sense for people who want to experience Florence without feeling like they’re staying in a theme park version of it. Sure, you’re not going to roll out of bed and bump into the Ponte Vecchio, but you’ll actually hear church bells instead of tour guides with megaphones. And honestly? The walk to the main sights isn’t bad at all – it’s that perfect distance where you feel like you’re discovering the city’s layers instead of just checking boxes. The rating of 8.3 feels about right; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it nails what it’s going for. I’d definitely stay here again, especially during the summer when the centro gets absolutely mobbed and you really appreciate having a calm base to retreat to.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: Quite a lot of steps down to the apartment - because we were using as a 3 bedroom the living room was one of the bedrooms, meaning no communal space to sit and relax apart from the kitchen. Ok for the 1 night we stayed but if you were staying longer it would put me off.
What could be improved: Noisy road outside for sleeping and also the downstairs of the duplex smelt damp.
What could be improved: It’s in 1st floor without elevator. I had to lift 4 big trollies . It’s the only problem.
What could be improved: The coffee machine was leaking 😐
What could be improved: The room is at the top and the stairs are very very narrow . Good for a day stay not for a long one
What could be improved: would be great if there was a washing machine in the property and if some toiletries were provided as no soap body wash etc was provided
A garden exists as well.
Easy to park in front of the building.
What could be improved: Nothing to highlight.
What could be improved: Nothing.
