The location on Via dei Neri is honestly perfect – you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Uffizi’s back entrance, which means you can slip out for morning coffee and be back before the tour groups descend. I mean, you can hear the street life below, but it’s the good kind of Florence buzz, not the awful scooter chaos you get near Santa Maria Novella.

What struck me first was how they’ve managed to feel authentically Florentine without being stuffy or museum-like. The apartments have these gorgeous original details – think exposed beams and stone walls – but someone actually thought about modern comfort. The beds are proper quality (not the rock-hard Italian mattresses you sometimes get), and honestly, the kitchenettes are better equipped than most. You know what I appreciated? They stock real coffee, not those terrible pods. Small thing, but it matters when you’re trying to ease into Italian morning rhythms. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout, which – trust me – isn’t a given in these old buildings.

The whole setup feels more like borrowing a well-connected friend’s place than staying in a hotel. Staff knows the neighborhood inside and out, so when they recommend that little osteria tucked behind Santo Spirito, you actually want to go. I ended up eating there three times because it was that good. The check-in process is smooth, parking arrangements are sorted (they’ll direct you to Garage Verdi, which is close enough), and they seem to genuinely care about your experience without being hovering. September was busy but never felt chaotic, and even during high season, the courtyard stays relatively peaceful in the evenings. That 9.5 rating makes total sense when you’re actually there – it’s the kind of place that spoils you for other accommodations because everything just works the way it should.
