Tintori Place
Florence, ItalyYou know what struck me first about Tintori Place? The address. Via dei Neri – it’s this narrow medieval street that most tourists rush past on their way to the Uffizi, but honestly, that’s exactly why staying here feels like you’ve discovered something special. The building itself has that weathered Florentine stone facade that makes you wonder how many centuries of travelers have passed through these same doors.
The thing about Florence is that everyone talks about location, but they usually mean “close to stuff.” Here, you’re literally in the thick of it – I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and be staring at Renaissance masterpieces within a five-minute walk. But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you: Via dei Neri connects to some of the best local spots that aren’t completely overrun. There’s this tiny osteria around the corner where I watched the same group of Italian men play cards every evening around 6 PM, and the morning coffee bar where locals actually go (not the tourist trap places near Ponte Vecchio).
The hotel rooms have this interesting mix – original architectural details like exposed beams and thick walls that actually keep the noise down, but then modern touches that work really well. I was worried about staying right in the centro storico because of street noise, but the windows are solid and the building’s positioning means you’re not getting the full brunt of the tour group stampede. The staff genuinely knows their stuff about Florence – not just the obvious attractions, but practical things like when the markets are best, which restaurants take reservations, and honestly, how to navigate the city without looking like a complete tourist. Check-in was smooth, and they seem to have figured out that balance between being helpful and not hovering.
What really makes this place work is that it feels authentically Florentine without being precious about it. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you’re there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in the city, but everything functions well and there’s this lived-in quality that makes you feel like you’re staying in Florence rather than just visiting it. The breakfast setup is solid (though if you want the full Italian experience, grab your cornetto and cappuccino at the bar down the street like the locals do). I’d definitely stay here again, particularly if you’re someone who wants to explore beyond the main tourist circuit but still be close enough to hit the major sights without dealing with buses or long walks.

What could be improved: Every single thing was fantastic
What could be improved: Nothing at all. We loved every aspect of this place.
The owner ( Vincent) met us at the door, helped with the luggage, had a map for us all prepared with places to go places to eat and drink.
The attention to detail for the apartment was meticulous. The bathroom had everything we needed, even a towel heater which was left on my Victor. Shower was perfect, with hot, hot water!
Washing machine with plenty of soap. Kitchen was well stocked, it actually had a beautiful remolded kitchen with (3) different types of coffee machines! The place was very comfortable! Cozy!
What could be improved: We loved it all
We loved the kitchen and bathrooms - both are spacious and supplied with everything you need.
Everything was great!
What could be improved: The only suggestion would be to have an arrangement with the local taxi companies for pick ups and drop offs given the state of taxis and the waiting times in Florence especially the train station where we were stuck for more than an hour in a queue in the rain and then had to pay the late night charges.
when we spent the day outdoors, it was so so so quiet and appreciated when on a busy street. It was steps away from anything to eat or drink, so practical.
What could be improved: 1. I would suggest putting a few chairs outside in the courtyard and a small table, since not much natural light in appart.
2. there needs to be someone at the place out of the rain to let us in even if its temporary although having issues with
my phone was not practical, will get better organized next time.
