Celeste’s House
Florence, ItalyYou know what struck me first about Celeste’s House? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet stretch of Viale Belfiore where you can hear the morning church bells instead of traffic — which, honestly, is pretty rare when you’re this close to Santa Maria Novella station. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from one of Florence’s main transport hubs, but the street has this residential feel that most hotels in the area just can’t pull off.
The place feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s apartment than a typical four-star setup. Celeste (yeah, there’s an actual Celeste) has this knack for those little touches that make you feel settled — fresh flowers in the common areas, really good coffee in the morning, and she actually remembers your name after the first day. The rooms have character without being cluttered, if that makes sense. Mine had these beautiful old shutters that opened onto a quiet courtyard, and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious for Florence standards. I’ve stayed in plenty of places here where you practically have to back out of the shower, but this felt comfortable. The WiFi was solid too, which — let’s be honest — can be hit or miss in these older buildings.
What really sets this spot apart is how Celeste seems to know everyone in the neighborhood. She pointed me toward this tiny osteria on Via del Porcellana that I never would’ve found otherwise, and when I mentioned wanting to avoid the Uffizi crowds, she had this whole strategy about visiting right before closing time. The 9.5 rating totally makes sense once you experience this kind of local insight. It’s not just the clean rooms or the decent breakfast spread — though both are good — it’s that you end up discovering Florence through someone who genuinely loves the city. The area around Santa Maria Novella can feel pretty touristy, but staying here somehow puts you in touch with the quieter, more authentic side of things. Plus, you can walk to the Duomo in about fifteen minutes, but you’re far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups outside your window.

Guest Reviews
The facilities, the location and the very spacious apartment
I’d definitely come back again. Very highly recommended
What could be improved: Nothing really!
What could be improved: No problems.
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: The host (Marian) was great. Many thanks Marian!
What could be improved: It was a long walk into the city center but the tram was close. It was also a 10 minute walk to a grocery store.
2. The apartment is with an elevator, clean and good facilities. It has two stories with all bedrooms upstairs. Plenty of room for six of us
3. Easy transportation. Tram T2 is just a few steps away which connects to the train station and Airport
What could be improved: You'd better walk rather than taking public transport as both take 20 minutes to reach most of the main attractions due to the urban structures.
What could be improved: No complaints
