Attico43 B&B
Florence, ItalyYou know what struck me first about Attico43? The building itself – it’s got this classic Florentine charm that somehow feels both elegant and lived-in. I mean, you’re right on Viale Belfiore, which honestly is one of those streets that feels authentically local without being tucked away in some impossible-to-find corner. The Santa Maria Novella area gets a bad rap sometimes for being too touristy, but this little stretch actually has more of a residential vibe, especially in the evenings when you hear families chatting from their windows.
The B&B occupies what feels like the top floors (hence the “Attico” name, I’m guessing), and there’s something really satisfying about climbing up to your room after a day of wandering Florence’s flat-as-a-pancake historic center. The owners – and this is where you can tell it’s a genuine family operation – seem to actually live their daily lives around this place. They know which nearby osteria has the best ribollita on Tuesday nights, and they’ll casually mention that the morning market on Via Nazionale is worth the ten-minute walk if you want decent coffee beans. The breakfast setup isn’t fancy, but it’s thoughtful in that Italian way where someone clearly cares about the provenance of their jam and won’t serve you instant anything.
What really sells me on this place is the neighborhood knowledge you get just by staying here. The Santa Maria Novella train station is close enough that you can actually walk there with luggage (trust me, this matters more than you think in Florence), but you’re far enough away that you won’t hear the 6 AM announcements echoing through your window. There’s a little alimentari around the corner that stays open later than most – perfect for grabbing wine and snacks for those nights when you can’t face another restaurant meal. And honestly, the surrounding streets have this perfect mix of actual Florentines going about their business and just enough visitor-friendly spots that you won’t feel like you’re intruding on someone’s private neighborhood. The rooms themselves feel authentically Italian without being museum-piece precious about it, and the 8.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s the kind of place where everything works properly and the people running it clearly give a damn, but they’re not trying to be something they’re not.

Guest Reviews
Our host was great and helped us out before check out by checking our train information as there was a train strike the day we were leaving.
What could be improved: Additional taxes, a bit strange breakfast
What could be improved: The dunk bed was not comfortable for my sons and it was noisy every time they turn up on bed
What could be improved: I would say nothing serious to think about it. Perhaps the only thing is a little bit far from the center and you have to use the tram for a quicker approach.
Parking available
What could be improved: The proposed breakfast ( included in the price for my case) is by default limited to 2 beverages to choose and 2 food to choose). Meaning per example, if you want to have céréals with Milk, it remains you 1 beverage and 1 food to not have to pay a potential extra.... sounded really "limited" for an included breakfast...
What could be improved: Too much fuss on procedures and kind of difficult checking in experience although the staff was really helpful.
