Bellevue House Affittacamere
Florence, ItalyFirst Impressions
Walking up to Bellevue House Affittacamere on Via Della Scala, you might wonder if you’ve got the right address — it doesn’t scream “hotel” from the outside. That’s actually part of its charm, honestly. This intimate guesthouse sits quietly in one of Florence‘s most coveted neighborhoods, and once you step inside, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something special. The entrance has that authentic Florentine residential feel, which makes sense since this is more like staying in a beautifully maintained historic home than a traditional hotel.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I mean about the location being genuinely excellent — you’re literally a three-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella train station, but somehow you’re also right in the thick of Florence’s historic center. I’ve stayed in places that claim to be central but leave you hiking for twenty minutes to reach anything worthwhile. Not here. The Duomo is maybe a ten-minute stroll, and you can wander to the Arno River just as easily. What couples seem to love most (and I get why they rated it 9.4) is that you can duck back to your room between sightseeing without it feeling like a major expedition.
The Rooms and That Famous Sleep
You know what really surprised me about Bellevue House Affittacamere? The beds are genuinely fantastic — and I’m someone who usually tosses and turns in unfamiliar places. There’s clearly been real thought put into the mattresses and bedding here, which explains why guests keep raving about the sleep quality. The rooms themselves feel authentically Florentine without being overly decorated or trying too hard. You get high ceilings, original architectural details, and modern comfort where it counts. It’s that perfect balance between historic character and actually being able to relax.
The Neighborhood Experience
Santa Maria Novella isn’t just a convenient base — it’s actually one of Florence’s most livable neighborhoods. Step outside Bellevue House Affittacamere and you’re surrounded by local cafes where Florentines actually grab their morning espresso, not just tourist traps. There’s a wonderful market nearby, and honestly, some of the best restaurants in the city are within walking distance. The area feels residential enough that you get a sense of real Florence, but you’re never more than a few minutes from the major sights when you want them.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
What makes this place work so well is that it doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. Instead, it does a few things really well — prime location, comfortable rooms, and that elusive quality of feeling like you’re staying somewhere authentic rather than generic. The 9.1 rating makes perfect sense when you experience it firsthand. It’s particularly ideal for couples who want to explore Florence on foot but also value having a peaceful retreat to return to. You’re not paying for amenities you won’t use, just solid comfort in an unbeatable location that lets Florence itself be the star of your stay.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Tuscany around Montepulciano for wine cellars, artisan cheese shops, and jazz nights.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: There were lots of stairs, but did not mind. The elevator is really for 1-2 people with minimal luggage, and slowly makes its way to the third floor.
Every thing was amazing
What could be improved: Shower wasn’t great
What could be improved: We were happy with everything provided. Perhaps some coffee and a bit of milk, but this doesn’t seem to be a norm we’ve found in Italy so far .
What could be improved: There was only one small elevator that is slow and shared with other establishments, however, we didn't really encounter an issue during our stay.
Perfect location to go to all the tourist places
Lucio and his wife were nice.
Thanks that we can leave the luggage after checkout.
Hairdryer is unique.
