Vivaldi luxury suites
Florence, ItalyYou know what struck me first about Vivaldi luxury suites? The address actually means something here – 23 Via della Scala puts you right in the thick of Santa Maria Novella, but on one of those quieter side streets that locals use to dodge the tourist crowds heading to the basilica. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from the main train station (which is honestly a godsend when you’re dragging luggage through Florence’s cobblestone maze), but somehow the street itself feels tucked away and residential. The building has that classic Florentine thing going on – thick stone walls that keep the summer heat out and the winter warmth in, though I’ll be honest, the air conditioning works better than I expected for a historic building.
The suites themselves are where this place really shines, and I get why they went with “luxury” in the name without sounding too pretentious about it. The rooms are spacious by European standards – I could actually open my suitcase without rearranging all the furniture – and there’s this nice mix of period details and modern comfort that doesn’t feel forced. The bathrooms are genuinely impressive, with marble that looks original and rainfall showers that have proper pressure (you’d be surprised how rare that is in old Italian buildings). What I loved most was the attention to soundproofing; even though you’re in the heart of the city, you won’t hear the morning street cleaning trucks or the late-night Vespa parade that’s just part of Florence life. The staff seems to know their stuff too – not just the usual tourist recommendations, but actually useful intel like which grocery store stays open late and where to find parking that won’t bankrupt you.
Here’s the thing though – this isn’t one of those places that feels like it could be anywhere in the world. The morning light hits the windows just right, and you can hear the church bells from Santa Maria Novella marking the hours, which sounds romantic until you realize they actually do it all night long (though honestly, you get used to it). The location means you can walk to the Duomo, hit the Oltrarno district for dinner, or just wander down to the Arno without ever needing public transport. I stayed here in late spring when Florence gets properly busy, and having a quiet retreat to come back to made all the difference. The 8.7 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it nails the basics while giving you that sense of actually staying somewhere distinctly Florentine rather than just another international hotel room.

What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: Na
What could be improved: No breakfast provided
What could be improved: Nothing !
Suite was exceptional, clean and decor so in theme with Florence.
Beds were comfortable, linen top notch.
What could be improved: Had an issue with online tax, link didn't work, however once online and paid could enter property.
Would be ideal if a reminder and further link be issued to ensure smoother check in.
What could be improved: The wifi didn’t work that well
What could be improved: No communication with the hosts. No welcome, no instructions or suggestions other than a menu on the counter in the hallway. No replenishing of daily tea, coffee, sugar in your room. Coffee available (I assume it’s free) in the hallway. Walls are paper thin and although there are outdoor areas they are on top of one another. If your neighbor is a smoker or loud be prepared to feel as if you’re together.
What could be improved: Entry hall and corridor lights are on motion detector which did t always come on so it was pitch black twice when I went in- pretty creepy
