B&B Il Cuore

So I stumbled onto B&B Il Cuore completely by accident – well, sort of. I was actually looking for something closer to the coast, but honestly? Best mistake I made that trip. This little place sits right on Via Giardini, which sounds fancy but it’s actually this quiet residential street that locals use to cut through to the market area. You know what I mean – the kind of street where you hear church bells in the morning instead of traffic.

The thing about Il Cuore is that it feels like staying at your Italian aunt’s house, if your aunt had impeccable taste and actually knew how to run a proper B&B. The owner, Maria (I think that was her name – lovely woman with incredible English), she’s got this way of making you feel like you’ve been coming here for years. Check-in was this relaxed conversation over espresso, not some sterile front desk transaction. And the rooms – they’re not huge, but they’re done up with these gorgeous local ceramics and linens that actually feel expensive. I mean, for a 4-star place, I was expecting something decent, but the attention to detail really caught me off guard.

What really sold me on this place was the breakfast situation. They serve it in this sun-drenched room that looks out onto their little garden, and everything – and I mean everything – is made right there or sourced from the neighborhood. The pastries come from the bakery two streets over (you’ll smell it when you walk past), and there’s this local honey that I’m still thinking about months later. Plus, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the old town center, which most tourists miss because they’re all staying down by the beach. Parking was easy too – there’s street parking right outside, and during the week it’s free after 7 PM. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there, though I will say the stairs to the upper floors are pretty steep if you’re traveling with heavy luggage. But honestly, that’s about the only thing I’d change. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because you can’t bear to leave – which, full disclosure, is exactly what happened to me.
