Agriturismo Podere Delle Querci
You know that feeling when you stumble across a place that’s exactly what you pictured Italy would be like before you actually got there? That’s Agriturismo Podere Delle Querci. I mean, the name alone sounds like poetry, and honestly, the reality lives up to it. Tucked away in Poggio Ciliegio – which translates to “Cherry Hill” if you’re wondering – this place sits about ten minutes outside Castiglion Fiorentino, far enough from the tourist crowds but close enough that you can actually walk into town for dinner if you’re feeling ambitious.
The drive up is half the experience, winding through olive groves and vineyards on roads that Google Maps insists exist but seem too narrow for actual cars. When you finally arrive, there’s this beautiful stone farmhouse surrounded by – you guessed it – oak trees (that’s what “querci” means). The owners, who actually live on the property, have this wonderful way of making you feel like you’re visiting family rather than checking into a hotel. They’ll probably offer you a glass of their own wine within the first five minutes, and honestly, just say yes. The rooms are what you’d expect from a thoughtfully restored farmhouse – exposed beams, terracotta floors, and windows that frame views of the Tuscan countryside so perfectly it almost looks fake. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too, which matters more than you think after a day of walking around medieval hill towns.
What really gets me about this place is how quiet it is. I’m talking about that deep, countryside quiet where you can actually hear birds and wind through the trees instead of air conditioning units and traffic. The pool area is where you’ll probably spend most of your afternoon – it’s got this infinity edge that looks out over the valley, and there’s usually a breeze even on the hottest days. The breakfast situation is solid too, with local honey, fresh bread, and coffee that’s actually strong enough to wake you up. They source a lot of their ingredients from nearby farms, which sounds like marketing speak until you taste the difference. Just a heads up though – if you’re coming in August, book way ahead because half of Europe seems to know about this place. Spring and early fall are honestly better anyway – fewer crowds, perfect weather, and the landscape is at its most dramatic. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s one of those places that delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense or fuss.

L' ingresso è suggestivo, incorniciato dai tipici cipressi toscani.
Ulteriori plus della struttura: zanzariere su tutte le finestre, possibilità lettini con sbarre per i più piccoli, due amache nel giardino, due tavolini con sedie in giardino, rustico nei pressi della casa con secondo frigorifero, impianto audio con filodiffusione in giardino, barbecue, forno pizza, filo per stendere e stendino, e soprattutto un nuovissimo gazebo 4x4mt nel giardino davvero eccezionale, dotato di tavolo per pranzi da 12-14 persone e secondo tavolo-botte con 4 sgabelli, con pareti mobili per ripararsi dal vento, illuminazione serale gazebo e giardino adeguata;
