Agriturismo Le Valli
Collemontanino, ItalyYou know what hit me first about Agriturismo Le Valli? The silence. I mean, you’re still just outside Casciana Terme proper – maybe a ten-minute drive from the main piazza – but once you turn onto Via Comunale di Terricciola, it’s like someone turned down the volume on the world. The road winds through actual working farmland, and honestly, if your GPS is acting up (which happens more than you’d think in this part of Tuscany), just follow the cypress-lined path. You’ll see the stone farmhouse rising up from the valley, and it’s pretty much exactly what you picture when someone says “Italian countryside.”
The whole place feels like it grew out of the landscape rather than being plunked down on it. The original structure dates back centuries – you can tell from the thick stone walls that keep everything cool even in July – but they’ve renovated it thoughtfully. No glass and steel nonsense, just clean lines that respect the bones of the building. The rooms are spacious in that old-world way, with actual thick walls instead of paper-thin partitions, so you’re not hearing every conversation from next door. Fair warning though: the Wi-Fi can be spotty in some corners of the property, which might actually be a blessing depending on why you’re here. The family that runs it clearly knows their stuff – they’ve been working this land for generations, and you’ll see them tending to the olive groves and vegetable gardens that supply the kitchen. Speaking of which, breakfast isn’t some continental buffet situation. They bring out fresh bread, local cheeses, and produce that was probably picked that morning. The coffee is proper Italian strong, none of that American hotel lobby stuff.
What really sets this place apart is how it sits in the landscape. You’re positioned perfectly between the thermal springs of Casciana Terme (seriously, don’t skip the spa treatments in town) and the wine country around Peccioli. The walking trails from the property connect to old pilgrimage routes, and if you’re up for it, there’s a path that leads to this tiny chapel about twenty minutes through the woods – locals still use it for weddings sometimes. The pool area overlooks the valley, and late afternoon is magic hour when the light hits the hills just right. It gets busy with day guests during peak season, but early morning and evening you’ll likely have it to yourself. The only real downside? You’ll need a car. There’s plenty of parking, but public transport out here is basically nonexistent. That said, once you’re settled in, you might find yourself wanting to stay put more than you expected. The 8.8 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place that does everything well without trying too hard to impress.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: The signage in the parking lot. You drive up a steep hill and come to a sign for Le Valli, then continue up on the dirt road. In the parking lot there is a tiny arrow sign pointing to a restaurant with a different name and another one pointing to "home". The restaurant is actually also the reception for the rooms. "home" is where the rooms are.
What could be improved: The last 500 m road to get there are very challenging, very rough gravel road but it was also off season and rained a lot
What could be improved: beautiful gardens, nice pool, and comfortable accommodations.
Stunning setting, hard not to feel completely relaxed here!
What could be improved: Wi-Fi connection is not good and limited breakfast options
