Agriturismo I Poggilunghi
ItalyYou know what struck me first about Agriturismo I Poggilunghi? It’s not just another “farmhouse hotel” β this place actually feels like you’re staying at someone’s well-loved family estate. The moment you turn off Via dei Poggilunghi (which, honestly, is easier to find than you’d expect once you know to look for the hand-painted sign), you’re winding up this gravel drive through olive groves that have clearly been there for decades. The main building has that weathered Tuscan stone look that you can’t fake β I mean, you can tell immediately this isn’t some modern development trying to look rustic.
What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to keep the authentic farmhouse feel while actually making it comfortable for travelers. The rooms β and I stayed in one of the converted barn spaces β have these thick stone walls that keep everything cool even in July, but they’ve added proper bathrooms and, thank god, decent Wi-Fi. The breakfast situation is honestly exceptional; they’re using eggs from their own chickens and making jam from fruit trees you can literally see from the dining terrace. It’s the kind of place where the owner (Maria, I think her name was) remembers your coffee preference by day two and starts suggesting hiking trails based on what she’s observed about your energy levels.
The location in Civitella in Val di Chiana is actually pretty brilliant if you’re planning to explore this part of Tuscany. You’re about twenty minutes from Arezzo β which most people skip but shouldn’t β and maybe forty-five minutes from the more touristy spots like Cortona. But here’s the thing: you don’t really need to go anywhere because the surrounding countryside is exactly what you came to Tuscany to see. There are these walking paths that start literally from the hotel’s back garden, and if you time it right (early morning or just before sunset), you’ll have those rolling hills and cypress-lined roads completely to yourself. The parking situation is straightforward β just pull up to the main building and they’ll sort you out β and the whole property is quiet enough that you can actually hear the church bells from the village below. I’ll be honest, the only minor thing is that dinner isn’t always available on-site, but they’ll point you toward this little trattoria about ten minutes away that feels like eating in someone’s grandmother’s kitchen. After three nights here, I was already planning my next visit β and that 9.3 rating? Yeah, that tracks.

Guest Reviews
The hosts were great, super friendly, and offered a fantastic family style dining experience. The night we were there for the meal, everyone staying joined in, so we were around 20 people outside on long tables, great atmosphere, and the food and wine was top.
Highly recommended.
What could be improved: Nothing
Owner was very friendly, helpful and attentive to our needs.
The pool are pretty much new and very nice and big.
The host Simon live there himself in one of the appartments and together with his two labrador dogs they make a wonderfull frame for our vacation.
It is a great place for couples and families who want peace and quiteness.
Simon are a very good host and he loves to share out and come with good ideas for sightseeing and restaurants in the area.
It is also possible to purchase some if his own produced wine and olive oil (much reconmendable)π
He also like to arrange pizza parties with Stone baked pizzas in his Stone oven.
The appartments are nice and fine and also the wifi are of a good quality.
What could be improved: Nothing bad to say.
