DormiVeglia B&B
You know what hit me first about DormiVeglia? The name itself β it literally means “sleep-wake” in Italian, which is pretty clever when you think about it. This little B&B sits right on Via Aretina, and I mean, you’re basically on the main road that connects Monte San Savino to Arezzo, but somehow it doesn’t feel busy or noisy at all. The building has that weathered Tuscan stone thing going on that you can’t fake β it’s the real deal, probably been there longer than most of our grandparents.
What really gets me is how the owners (and honestly, I wish I remembered their names because they were genuinely lovely) have managed to keep everything feeling like a proper Italian home while still making it work for travelers. The rooms aren’t huge β I mean, this isn’t some American chain hotel β but they’re thoughtfully put together with these thick stone walls that keep everything cool even in July. There’s this particular smell when you walk in, sort of like lavender mixed with that clean, sun-dried linen scent that Italian nonnas somehow master. The breakfast situation is actually fantastic β proper espresso, local honey, and they do this thing with fresh ricotta that I’m still thinking about months later. You eat it in this little courtyard area where you can hear the church bells from the centro storico, which sounds touristy but is actually just part of the morning rhythm here.
The location is one of those things that works better than it should on paper. Monte San Savino isn’t exactly a household name, but it’s perfectly positioned if you want to explore this part of Tuscany without dealing with Florence crowds. You’re maybe twenty minutes from Cortona (where yes, everyone goes because of that book, but it’s still worth it), and Arezzo is right there with its incredible piazza and that Piero della Francesca fresco cycle that absolutely blew my mind. The owners will definitely point you toward the good stuff β they told me about this little ceramics workshop down the hill that I never would have found otherwise. Parking is easy, which honestly is half the battle in Italian hill towns, and there’s a decent restaurant literally across the street if you don’t feel like driving after a day of wine tasting. The 9.2 rating makes total sense to me β it’s not fancy or flashy, but everything just works, and you leave feeling like you actually experienced something authentic instead of just passing through.

Guest Reviews
We would definitely consider staying here again if we were the returning type.
The breakfast was very delicious, with high-quality products such as different kinds of ham, cheese, and cherry tomatoes, as well as some extraordinarily delicious homemade pastries that I still miss π€€π
Simona was very kind and solved every single request we had, even if it wasnβt mentioned in the booking description. She could have politely refused, but she didnβt.
It was exactly how I imagined a Tuscany experience
