Agri Resort & SPA Le Colline del Paradiso
Bivigliano, ItalyLook, I’ve stayed at plenty of agriturismos in Tuscany, but Le Colline del Paradiso is honestly something else entirely. You know that feeling when you’re winding through those narrow Tuscan hills and suddenly stumble onto something that makes you slow down and actually pay attention? That’s exactly what happened when I first pulled up this long, cypress-lined drive in Vaglia. The place sits on these rolling hills about 20 minutes north of Florence – close enough that you can easily hit the Duomo for dinner, but far enough out that you’re surrounded by nothing but vineyards and olive groves. The building itself is this beautifully restored stone farmhouse that somehow manages to feel both rustic and seriously luxurious at the same time.
What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed that balance between authentic countryside charm and legitimate five-star comfort. The spa – and I mean this – is absolutely incredible. They’ve got this treatment room that looks out over the valley, and I swear the massage I had there was better than anything I’ve experienced in Florence proper. The infinity pool area is where you’ll probably spend most of your time though, especially if you’re there during the warmer months. It’s positioned perfectly to catch both the morning sun and those golden hour views that make you understand why people move to Tuscany and never leave. The rooms themselves are spacious and beautifully appointed – mine had these gorgeous exposed beams and a bathroom with locally sourced stone that felt like a little slice of heaven.
Here’s what you should know practically speaking: the restaurant is legitimately excellent (they source most ingredients from their own gardens and local farms), the staff actually knows the area well enough to give you solid recommendations beyond the tourist traps, and the wine selection focuses heavily on smaller Chianti producers you probably haven’t heard of but definitely should try. The only minor thing I’d mention is that you’ll want a car – there’s plenty of parking, but you’re not walking anywhere from here. Also, if you’re planning to visit during harvest season in the fall, book way ahead because locals know about this place and it fills up fast. Honestly, after staying here, those big chain hotels in Florence city center just feel sterile and impersonal. This is the kind of place where you actually slow down and remember why you wanted to visit Italy in the first place.

Guest Reviews
to detail. Everything we needed. Comfy beds and lovely cool a/c
What could be improved: The step as you walk in the apartment door.
What could be improved: The restaurant was unfortunately a disappointment. Very nice that many things were grown locally and by the hotel but the dishes were rather tasteless and dry. The breakfast was also rather simple. The tiramisu was amazing though!
What could be improved: Breakfast options were a bit basic for the price
What could be improved: Nothing
Comfy bed, great water pressure and hot water.
Restaurant next door is top notch for quality of their food which we really enjoyed.
Staff very friendly.
What could be improved: Was abit of a musty smell in the room
Marina, a very special thank you.
What could be improved: Probably have a lunch option too!
