The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully restored” rather than sterile hotel perfect. My room had these original hardwood floors that creaked just enough to remind you you’re sleeping in a piece of history, and the bathroom – well, let’s just say European hotel bathrooms can be hit or miss, but this one actually had space to move around. The air conditioning worked (crucial if you’re visiting in July or August), and honestly, the bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with Italian linens all night. What really got me was the attention to details that matter – proper blackout curtains, decent water pressure, and outlets where you’d actually want to plug things in. The staff at check-in knew their stuff too; they gave me actual restaurant recommendations, not just the tourist traps, and warned me about the construction work happening near Santa Maria Novella that week.

Here’s the thing about staying in this part of Florence – you’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters, but far enough from the madness around the Ponte Vecchio that you can actually hear yourself think. The Santissima Annunziata church is practically next door, and that whole area has this lived-in feeling where you’ll see actual Florentines doing their morning shopping instead of just tour groups. Parking is typical Florence nightmare stuff, but they’ll help you figure it out, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need a car anyway. The 8.8 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it gets the fundamentals right and gives you that authentic Florence experience without the boutique hotel price tag. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re staying in a real neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble, this place delivers.

  We had an amazing stay in Villa Tortorelli. The room was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The pool was also amazing and a big plus when you're traveling in summer. The staff is super nice and attentive. It really felt peaceful and stress-free to stay there. We will come back for sure 🙂
