You know what hit me first about SUGAR ROOMS? The name actually makes sense once you’re inside – there’s this sweet, almost intimate feel to the whole place that’s hard to describe. It’s tucked right on Corso Italia, which honestly is one of those streets where you feel like you’re walking through actual Italian life, not just tourist stuff. The building itself is this gorgeous old thing – they call it a “residenza d’epoca” which basically means it’s got serious history, and you can tell the moment you step through the door.

The location is sort of perfect if you know Arezzo at all. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Piazza Grande (where they filmed that Roberto Benigni movie, Life is Beautiful), and the morning market on Saturday is right there – I mean, you can practically smell the fresh bread from your window. What I really loved though was how quiet it gets at night. Corso Italia can be a bit lively during the day, but once evening hits, it settles into this peaceful rhythm that actually helps you sleep. The rooms themselves feel like someone’s elegant aunt decorated them – not stuffy, just… refined? The ceilings are high, the floors have that worn marble look that screams authentic Italy, and honestly, the beds are better than what you’d find in most chain hotels.

Here’s the thing about staying here – it’s not trying to be a resort or whatever. It’s just really, really good at being a beautiful place to stay in a town that doesn’t get nearly enough attention. The staff actually seems to care about whether you’re enjoying Arezzo, not just checking boxes. They told me about this little enoteca around the corner that I never would have found otherwise, and when I had trouble figuring out the train schedule to Florence, they didn’t just hand me a pamphlet – they actually looked it up with me. Parking can be a bit tricky (welcome to Italian historic centers), but they’ll sort you out with directions to spots that actually work. The whole experience felt like staying with friends who happen to live in this incredible old building in one of Tuscany’s most underrated towns. At 9.5 rating, it’s clearly not just me who thinks this place gets it right – but what really matters is that you’ll leave feeling like you discovered something special, not like you just stayed somewhere convenient.

Great lovely boutique hotel in a gorgeous little city A beautiful palazzo sensitively restored- delightful fusion of historic and contemporary aesthetics. Our room was beautiful and comfortable- windows opened onto a lovely garden. Part of complex with a cafe bar and wonderful curated boutique of great Italian and other designers. A Roman mosaic is preserved under glass floors in the cafe bar. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay easy and pleasant. Very lively area Thank you so much - we hope to return soon
