Secret Garden Firenze B&B
First Impressions
Walking up to Secret Garden Firenze B&B on Via della Colonna, you’d almost miss it if you weren’t looking — and that’s exactly what makes it special. This four-star gem sits tucked away in the San Marco district, but honestly, the location couldn’t be more perfect. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Florence, surrounded by Renaissance architecture and cobblestone streets that feel like they haven’t changed in centuries. The entrance is understated in that elegant Italian way, where sophistication whispers rather than shouts.
The Neighborhood Magic
What I love about this spot is how it puts you right in the thick of things without the tourist chaos. The Santissima Annunziata area has this authentic Florentine vibe — you know, where locals actually live and work. You can walk to the Duomo in about ten minutes, but you’re also steps away from neighborhood cafés where the barista remembers your order. The couples who stay here absolutely rave about the location (they rate it 9.8, which honestly makes sense), and I get why — there’s something romantic about wandering these quieter streets in the evening.
Your Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that perfect balance of historic charm and modern comfort. You’ll find original architectural details — think exposed beams and traditional Florentine touches — but everything works exactly as it should. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just “charming old building” comfortable), and the bathrooms are updated without losing character. What really struck me was the attention to detail — fresh flowers, quality linens, and that sense that someone actually cares about your experience rather than just checking boxes.
Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
Now, about breakfast — this is where Secret Garden Firenze really shines. They’ve got Italian classics, obviously, but also vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options that actually taste good (not like afterthoughts). The Italian spread includes proper pastries and coffee that’ll spoil you for the rest of your trip. If you’re rushing off to beat the crowds at the Uffizi, they’ll even pack breakfast to go, which is honestly a lifesaver. The whole setup feels more like staying with sophisticated Italian friends than a typical B&B experience.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9.6 rating, this place clearly gets something right, and after staying here, I think it’s the combination of location and genuine hospitality. You’re not just getting a bed in Florence — you’re getting insider access to a neighborhood that feels authentically Italian. The staff knows the area inside and out, so you’ll get recommendations that actually matter (like which gelateria the locals prefer, or the best time to visit the markets). It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing Florence rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense.

Guest Reviews
Everything, literally everything, was perfect. It ticked all the boxes, from check in to check out - and all in between.
The place was calm. The room was spacious and well decorated. The breakfast featured home cooked goods and has all what you need to start the day. The garden was one physical definition of serenity.
You get to enjoy Firenze without worrying about the little details of a comfortable stay. The common kitchen was beautiful and well-equipped with water dispensers, kettle, cutlery, snacks and beverages for the guests to enjoy.
Special thanks to Filippo, who makes sure that you have everything you need.
Well worth the money.
