Santa Maria Novella 6 sleeps near the central station
First Impressions
Walking up to Santa Maria Novella 6 sleeps near the central station, you immediately get that “I’m in the real Florence” feeling. This four-star property sits right on Via del Porcellana, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — you’re literally in the heart of everything that matters. The building has that authentic Florentine character you hope for, without feeling like it’s trying too hard to be charming.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this spot — you can walk to Santa Maria Novella station in about three minutes, which is perfect when you’re dragging luggage or catching an early train to Rome. But you’re also just steps away from the historic center, so you don’t feel stuck in some touristy train station area. The neighborhood actually feels lived-in, with locals grabbing coffee at the corner bars and real shops mixed in with the tourist stuff. You know what’s really convenient? The main shopping streets and major sights are all within easy walking distance, so you’ll barely need public transport.
The Space
The apartment itself is set up to sleep six people comfortably, which makes it ideal for families or groups of friends traveling together. What struck me most was how they’ve managed to create separate sleeping areas without everything feeling cramped — there’s actually space to spread out and not trip over each other’s stuff. The kitchen is properly equipped too, not just some token mini-fridge situation, so you can actually prepare meals if you want to save money or just enjoy some downtime.
What Makes It Special
The thing about this place is that it strikes this perfect balance between being centrally located and feeling like a real home base. You’re not dealing with hotel lobby crowds or rigid breakfast schedules, but you’re also not sacrificing location for space. I mean, with a location score of 9.5, you’re basically in the sweet spot where everything Florence has to offer is at your doorstep. The room layouts work well for different group dynamics — couples get their privacy while families have space for kids to actually move around.
Why Guests Love It
What really comes through in guest feedback is how much couples appreciate this place — there’s something about having your own space in such a prime location that just works for romantic trips. But honestly, it’s the practical stuff that wins people over: being able to walk to the train station with heavy bags, having enough space to unpack properly, and being right in the middle of Florence without paying premium hotel rates for the location. The 8.6 rating reflects what you’d expect — solid accommodation that delivers on the basics while giving you that unbeatable central Florence experience.
