The name makes it sound like some remote countryside estate, but it’s actually right here in Pistoia proper on Via San Giorgio – though honestly, once you’re inside, you’d never guess you’re in the middle of a Tuscan city. I mean, the whole place has this incredible ability to feel like you’ve escaped to rural Italy without actually having to navigate winding country roads in a rental car.

The building itself is this beautifully restored farmhouse that somehow manages to feel both authentic and polished – no easy feat, trust me. Walking through the entrance, there’s this immediate sense of calm that hits you, probably because of the thick stone walls that seem to block out all the street noise. The rooms are what you’d hope for in a place like this: exposed beams, terracotta floors that feel cool under your feet even in summer, and those small windows that frame views of their actual working garden. It’s not trying to be fancy in that sterile hotel way – more like staying at your well-traveled aunt’s place, if she happened to have impeccable taste and a serious green thumb.

What really got me was the breakfast situation. They grow a lot of their own stuff right there on the property, and you can actually see the kitchen garden from the dining area. The tomatoes in summer are honestly ridiculous – the kind that make you realize what you’ve been missing back home. The family running the place (and yes, it’s still family-owned, which shows) knows everyone in town, so they’re constantly dropping casual suggestions about which trattoria to hit up or when the weekly market is actually worth visiting. Parking is right there on-site, which anyone who’s driven through Italian city centers will appreciate more than they can express. The whole area around Via San Giorgio is pretty quiet in the evenings, but you’re still walking distance from the main piazzas and that stunning cathedral. September through October is probably the sweet spot for visiting – warm enough to enjoy the garden spaces but without the summer crowds that can make Pistoia feel a bit overwhelming. One small thing: the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise when you’re surrounded by this much charm.
