RFC Repubblica Florence Core B&B
Florence, ItalyLook, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Florence B&Bs, and honestly? Most of them are either tucked away in some impossible-to-find alley or stuck out in the suburbs where you need a GPS just to find a decent coffee. But RFC Repubblica Florence Core – well, the name’s a bit of a mouthful, I’ll give you that – sits right on Piazza della Repubblica. I mean, literally ON it. Third floor, and when you step out in the morning, you’re basically in the heart of everything that matters in Florence.
The thing about this spot is that it’s not trying to be some overly precious boutique place with fake antiques and Instagram-worthy but uncomfortable furniture. It feels… I don’t know, authentic? Like someone actually thought about what travelers need instead of what looks good in photos. The rooms are well-appointed without being fussy, and you know what really got me? The windows. Real shutters that actually block out the light when you need to sleep off that wine from dinner at Il Latini (which, by the way, is like a ten-minute walk through those narrow streets behind the Duomo). The beds are proper comfortable too – not those rock-hard European mattresses that leave you feeling like you wrestled with cobblestones all night.
What really sells this place, though, is the morning routine. You wake up, open those shutters, and there’s the carousel spinning lazily in the piazza below, maybe some street musicians setting up near the old Roman columns. The sound isn’t intrusive – it’s more like the city gently reminding you that Florence is happening right outside your door. And speaking of happening, you’re literally steps from Via del Corso for shopping, but also close enough to dart over to the Oltrarno for that more local vibe when the tourist crowds get overwhelming around 2 PM (which they will, especially in summer). The staff actually knows this rhythm too – they’ll tell you the best times to hit the Uffizi line or when the sunset views from Piazzale Michelangelo are worth the climb. Actually helpful local intel, not just the standard “everything is wonderful” tourist board nonsense. I mean, the 9.2 rating isn’t just because the location is killer – though that definitely doesn’t hurt when you’re stumbling back from a late dinner in Santo Spirito and realize you’re already home.
