Residence Peloni
Arezzo, ItalyYou know what struck me first about Residence Peloni? It’s actually tucked away on Via Vincenzo Polidori in this perfectly quiet residential pocket of Arezzo, but you’re still close enough to hear the evening bells from San Francesco — where those famous Piero della Francesca frescoes are, if you’re into that sort of thing. I mean, most visitors end up there anyway, and it’s maybe a ten-minute walk through these narrow medieval streets that honestly feel like you’re wandering through a film set.
The place itself has this understated elegance that I really appreciate. It’s not trying too hard, you know? The rooms are spacious (actually spacious, not European-hotel-brochure spacious), and they’ve got this warm, lived-in feeling with local textiles and what looks like carefully chosen vintage furniture. The staff — well, they’re genuinely helpful without being overly formal, and the woman at reception gave me these spot-on restaurant recommendations that I never would’ve found otherwise. There’s also this lovely little courtyard where you can have breakfast when the weather’s nice, though honestly, even in shoulder season it gets pretty pleasant by mid-morning. The Wi-Fi actually works everywhere, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places in historic Italian buildings struggle with that.
What really sets this place apart is how it feels like you’re staying in someone’s well-appointed apartment rather than a hotel. The kitchenettes are properly equipped — not just a mini-fridge and a kettle, but actual cooking facilities if you want to grab ingredients from the Saturday market in Piazza Grande. Speaking of which, that’s maybe a five-minute stroll downhill, and Saturday mornings there are absolutely magical with all the antique vendors and local produce. Parking can be a bit tricky in this part of town (it’s ZTL, so no cars during certain hours), but they’ve sorted out arrangements with a nearby garage, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to drive anywhere anyway. The whole historic center is perfectly walkable, and the train station’s close enough if you want to day-trip to Florence or Siena. I’d definitely come back — it’s got that rare combination of comfort and authenticity that’s getting harder to find these days.

What could be improved: Eliseβs communication wasnβt great initially but once we had a WhatsApp number for her it was very good. And thanks for letting us arrive before 4 π
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: Coffee machine would be appreciated. Shower doors not great as if not super careful a lot of water goes on the floor.
Easy parking
What could be improved: Poor reading light in main room
What could be improved: If weβd stayed longer, there are only 2 rings to cook. It was an adequate kitchen for one or 2 nights.
