Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Tuscany, but Podere Lucignano Secondo actually gets it right in ways that matter. This isn’t one of those sterile hotel chains – it’s a proper agriturismo tucked into the hills around Gaiole in Chianti, and honestly, the moment you turn off that winding Strada Comunale 24, you know you’re somewhere special. The gravel driveway crunches under your tires as you pull up, and there’s this immediate sense of calm that hits you. Maybe it’s the way the old stone buildings sit so naturally into the landscape, or how the cypress trees frame everything perfectly without trying too hard.

What really struck me was how the owners – and I mean this in the best way – haven’t tried to Disney-fy the experience. The rooms feel authentic, with those thick stone walls that keep everything cool even in August, and you can actually hear the countryside at night instead of air conditioning units humming. The breakfast setup is where they really shine though – fresh pastries, local honey, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it came from a machine. You’ll want to linger on that terrace in the morning, trust me. The view stretches across the Chianti hills, and on clear days you can see all the way to the medieval towers dotting the horizon. I spent way too much time just sitting there with my second (okay, third) espresso, watching the light change across the vineyards.

Here’s what you need to know practically speaking – parking is no problem, which is actually a big deal in this part of Tuscany where some places expect you to haul your luggage up ancient stone steps. The location puts you right in the sweet spot for exploring the region without dealing with tourist crowds. Radda in Chianti is maybe fifteen minutes away, and you can easily day-trip to Siena or even Florence if you’re feeling ambitious. But honestly? You might not want to leave. There’s something about the pace here that just works – whether you’re wandering through their olive groves or settling in with a bottle of the local Chianti Classico as the sun sets. The staff knows their stuff too, especially when it comes to restaurant recommendations in Gaiole itself. They steered me toward this little osteria that I never would have found otherwise, and it ended up being one of those perfect Tuscan evenings you always hope for but rarely get. That 9.6 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen – it’s earned.

Our host is amazing-- he met us at the property and was friendly and welcoming. The property is gorgeous- set in the hills and vineyards with beautiful outdoor spaces. We rented the 3 bedroom section with the downstairs sitting area. Everything is perfect- clean, comfortable. Well stocked kitchen and perfectly situated for visits to the surrounding vineyards, Siena, Florence (by train) and to the amazing villages of the Chianti region. Each bedroom has a private bath and the beds were very comfortable. There are 2 large, beautiful sitting areas and the kitchen area is very big. We loved EVERYTHING about our 7 day stay at the property. They are adding a pool to the property and we hope to return. Thank you for a beautiful stay!

Podere Lucignano Secondo is very peacefull location with nice view, ideal for relaxation with family or friends and for exploring Siena, and beautifull Siena surroundings. The house is very nice and we had feeling like beeing in a little castle and in our home at the same time. The house has all what you could need for a great holiday. Duccio, the owner was very kind and helpfull and we are looking forward to come back again and enjoy on this great location.
