Palazzo BelVedere
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Montecatini Terme over the years, and honestly? Palazzo BelVedere on Via Fedeli is one of those spots that just gets it right. You know how some five-star hotels feel stuffy and intimidating – well, this isn’t that. The moment you walk through those doors, there’s this elegant but relaxed vibe that makes you want to actually use the lobby instead of just rushing through it.
The location is pretty brilliant, actually. Via Fedeli is this quiet side street that’s maybe a three-minute walk from the main thermal park action, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the crowds and tour buses constantly rumbling past your window. I mean, Montecatini can get pretty hectic during peak season – especially when the German and Russian tourists descend in July – but staying here feels like you’ve got your own little sanctuary. The staff clearly knows the area inside and out too; they pointed me toward this tiny family-run enoteca just around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise, and honestly, it ended up being one of my favorite discoveries of the trip.
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to keep that old-world palazzo charm without making you feel like you’re sleeping in a museum. The rooms have these gorgeous high ceilings and original architectural details – you can tell this building has stories – but everything’s been updated thoughtfully. The beds are seriously comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms have that perfect balance of marble elegance and modern functionality. You know what I loved? The windows actually open properly, which sounds silly but you’d be surprised how many hotels have given up on that. There’s something wonderful about letting in that morning air along with the sounds of the town waking up.
The breakfast situation deserves a mention too – it’s one of those spreads where you can tell they’re working with local suppliers. Fresh pastries that actually taste like they were made that morning, proper espresso, and they had this incredible selection of local honey and jams. I’m usually a grab-coffee-and-go person, but I found myself lingering over breakfast here, planning out my day while watching the quiet street life through the dining room windows. The thermal treatments they offer are solid as well, though honestly, with Montecatini’s famous spas literally around the corner, you’ve got plenty of options either way.
If I had to nitpick – and this is really minor – the elevator is one of those charming old European ones that takes its sweet time, so factor that in if you’re on the upper floors with heavy luggage. But that’s about it. The whole experience just feels genuine, from the way the concierge remembers your name to how they handle the little touches that make a stay memorable. It’s the kind of place where an 8.4 rating feels about right – really excellent without being perfect, which somehow makes it more appealing. You’re getting that five-star treatment without the pretense, in a town that knows a thing or two about hospitality.

I already knew this and knew I was lied to the night before we did open the room windows but lots of mosquitos I don’t like to be played like that
Staff makes you feel at home .
Thank you
Our stay was just as we imagined for a five-star hotel. Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. There are numerous ways of how to adjust the lightning in the room.
The surroundings of the hotel were full of trees, gardens and perfectly maintained lawns.
Breakfast was exceptional, and the staff fulfilled our every wish. As we were mostly around in Tuscany during the day, we had dinner in the hotel as well. This was even better - three to four courses every evening on a beautiful terrrace, every course better than the other with very reasonable prices for a five-star hotel.
The bed was very comfortable
The lady incharged of the dining room was very nice!!!
