Numa Florence Rodo
Florence, ItalyLook, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Florence over the years, and Numa Florence Rodo honestly surprised me. When I first walked up to Via Calzaiuoli 13, I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical – the street’s basically tourist central, packed with people shuffling between the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio. But you know what? Sometimes being right in the thick of things actually works in your favor.
The building itself has this understated elegance that I really appreciated. None of that over-the-top Tuscan kitsch you see everywhere – just clean lines and thoughtful design that feels more like a boutique property than your typical Florence hotel. The rooms are surprisingly quiet considering you’re literally steps from where tour groups gather every morning. I mean, you’ll hear some street noise during the day, but honestly, if you’re in your room during prime sightseeing hours in Florence, you’re doing it wrong anyway. The evening hours are actually pretty peaceful, especially after the day-trippers head back to their cruise ships.
What really sold me on this place was the staff’s local knowledge – they pointed me toward this tiny enoteca on Via dei Georgofili that I never would have found otherwise, and when I mentioned I was looking for decent leather goods (not the tourist trap stuff), they knew exactly which workshops to recommend. The rooms themselves are well-appointed without being fussy. Good shower pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss in these historic buildings. The beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with Italian pillows all night – you know how that goes.
Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really capture: yes, you’re surrounded by tourists during the day, but you’re also a three-minute walk from the Duomo, five minutes from the Uffizi, and you can stumble back from dinner in Santo Spirito without needing to figure out late-night transportation. Plus, there’s actually some decent breakfast spots right around the corner on Via del Corso if you want to skip the hotel breakfast and eat where the locals do. The rating of 8.2 feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s solid, well-located, and the kind of place where everything just works the way it should. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re trying to pack three days’ worth of Renaissance art into 48 hours.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: Mini-fridge was in the wardrobe. Little weird?
What could be improved: It would have been nice to have received a message before arrival allowing me to scan in passports and get the code earlier than when we arrived for entry. It would have made the arrival process much smoother. I had to call and find out how to get the code after we arrived. Then trying to scan in passports on the street with luggage and many other people around was not ideal and delayed our entry.
What could be improved: The room quality did not match the advertised pictures. The refrigerator did not work and we were told on the first day that someone would come look at it - they never did. This greatly increased our meal costs for the trip. Additionally the bathroom door scraped the floor which made it impossible to close without a horrible sound.
What could be improved: Very noisy. Need more soundproofing for window and walls
