First Impressions

Walking up to Numa l Rodo Rooms & Apartments on Via Calzaiuoli, you can’t help but feel like you’ve hit the jackpot. I mean, this four-star property sits right in the thick of Florence’s historic center — you’re literally steps from the Duomo and surrounded by Renaissance architecture that’ll make your Instagram followers seriously jealous. The building itself has that classic Florentine charm, though honestly, you’ll probably be too busy gawking at the cathedral dome looming overhead to notice much else at first.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s the thing about Via Calzaiuoli — it’s basically Florence’s main pedestrian thoroughfare, which means you’re in the absolute heart of everything without needing to figure out Italian public transport. The Uffizi Gallery is a five-minute stroll, Ponte Vecchio is maybe seven minutes if you walk slowly, and the Duomo? Well, you can practically reach out and touch it. What I really appreciated was how couples seem to get this location (they rate it 9.7, and honestly, I can see why) — there’s something pretty romantic about stepping out your door and being surrounded by centuries of art and history.

The Accommodations

The rooms and apartments at Numa l Rodo strike that sweet spot between modern comfort and Florentine character. You’re not getting over-the-top amenities here, but everything feels thoughtfully designed and actually functional — which matters when you’re dealing with historic buildings that weren’t exactly built with modern travelers in mind. The apartments are particularly smart if you’re staying more than a couple nights, giving you that little bit of extra space to spread out after long days of museum-hopping and gelato-tasting.

Morning Fuel

The breakfast setup here is refreshingly straightforward — continental and buffet options that actually make sense for getting your day started. You know what I appreciated most? They seem to understand that people want to get out and explore Florence, not spend half the morning lingering over an elaborate meal. The buffet gives you flexibility to grab what you need and head out to beat the crowds at the major attractions, which is honestly the smart play in a city like this.

Why Guests Love It

That 8.6 rating and 9.8 location score aren’t accidents — this place just works for people who want to experience Florence properly. You’re saving time and energy by staying right where the action is, which means more time for the things you actually came to see. The staff seems to get that most guests are here for the city, not necessarily the hotel amenities, so they focus on making your base comfortable and efficient rather than trying to keep you on the property. It’s the kind of place where you’ll fall asleep to the sounds of the historic center and wake up ready to dive back into one of the world’s most incredible cities.

Right in the heart of Florence, with a superb view of the Duomo. We booked a triple room which was really big and the beds were super comfortable.
What really made the difference in our comfort was the breakfast which was an amazing 3 course meal. Also they use Ren Skincare and their shower gel and body cream smells just amazing !!

The property is just steps away from the Duomo Santa Maria di Fiore. And the room has a nice view is the front of the Duomo and the bell tower. The windows open up like French doors allowing you to observe all the activity below and the duomo. This is the heart of Florence and there are a lot of shops, cafes, and restaurants within walking distance.

This hotel is centrally located and in a lovely building off a Main Street. Whilst located in a busy street we had no issue with noise from our room (we were on the third floor). The bed was possibly the most comfortable bed I’ve had in a hotel ever. The room was a good size and the bathroom was well stocked with products and not in silly little sachets or small bottles. The shower was good. The hotel is not manned and so no one will come and clean your room each day but we did not find this an issue. If you run out of anything or want clean towels everyday, there is a cupboard on the floor for you to help yourself to. Our stay was excellent and being here just for a long weekend and being so centra to everything meant we could come back in the day if needed or were never far away at the end of the day to get back to the room.
