Maestrale Resort Hotel – Grosseto
Grosseto, ItalyYou know what struck me first about the Maestrale Resort Hotel? It’s actually tucked away on Via della Costituzione – which sounds way more official than it feels – in a part of Grosseto that most tourists completely miss. I mean, everyone heads straight to the coast or the medieval center, but this spot gives you this perfect launching pad for both without being stuck in either tourist trap. The building itself has that clean, modern Italian hotel vibe that doesn’t try too hard to be charming but somehow just… works.
Honestly, the 8.7 rating makes total sense once you spend a night here. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully comfortable” – not flashy, but everything’s where it should be, and the beds are actually good (you know how hotel beds can be a total gamble). What really got me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re basically in the heart of Grosseto. The staff seems to genuinely know the area too, which is rarer than you’d think. They pointed me toward this little osteria about ten minutes away that I never would’ve found otherwise, and when I asked about getting to the Maremma beaches, they gave me actual insider tips about parking and timing instead of just handing over a generic tourist map.
The whole place has this relaxed energy that feels distinctly Tuscan without being precious about it. Breakfast happens in this bright space that catches the morning light just right, and I found myself lingering over coffee longer than usual – partly because it was good, partly because there’s something about the pace here that makes you slow down. The pool area (yes, there’s a pool) gets busy during peak season, but if you hit it in the early morning or late afternoon, it’s pretty perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the Maremma countryside. What I really appreciated was how the hotel feels connected to Grosseto itself rather than isolated from it – you can walk to proper local restaurants, the train station’s reachable if you want to day-trip to Siena or Florence, and there’s actual Italian life happening around you instead of just tourist infrastructure. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra day because leaving feels unnecessarily complicated.

Guest Reviews
The village was great with at least 3 restaurants. Try the fish restaurant "Ristorante da Remo" if you love fish.
What could be improved: Choices for breakfast were a little basic and definitely can be better. The cell phone signal in the room was spotty, my partner and I were with different telecom brands but neither has decently signal, and maybe because of the location of our room in the bed, wifi was also not usable.
What could be improved: Central operating aircon
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: We couldn’t get slippers.
