This isn’t some cookie-cutter hotel chain; it’s more like staying at your incredibly stylish Italian friend’s countryside retreat, assuming your friend has impeccable taste and a serious eye for design.

The whole “Dream Holiday Home” part of the name isn’t just marketing fluff – they really nailed that feeling where you’re not quite sure if you’re a guest or if you somehow inherited this gorgeous property from a long-lost relative. The restoration work is just… well, it’s the kind of thing that makes you want to tear down your own house and start over. They kept all the character of the original structure but added these modern touches that feel completely natural, not forced. The rooms have this perfect balance of rustic Tuscan elements and contemporary comfort that somehow doesn’t feel like they’re trying too hard. And the silence at night? Incredible. You’re far enough from the main roads that the only sounds are crickets and maybe the occasional owl – though if you’re a light sleeper, those church bells in the morning will definitely wake you up, but honestly, it’s kind of lovely.

What really sets this place apart is how the owners – and I’m pretty sure they live nearby because they seem to know everyone in town – have created this experience that feels authentically Tuscan without being cheesy about it. The breakfast spread uses ingredients from local farms, and I mean you can literally see some of the olive groves from your window. Montaione itself is this perfectly preserved medieval hill town that tourists somehow haven’t completely overrun yet, probably because it’s not on the main Florence-Siena route. You can walk into the village center in maybe fifteen minutes, grab supplies at the little market, or just sit in the piazza with a coffee and watch the old guys play cards. The hiking trails around here are fantastic if you’re into that sort of thing, and San Gimignano is close enough for a day trip but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tour buses rumbling past. I mean, with a 9.8 rating, you’d expect it to be good, but this place genuinely surprised me – it’s the kind of spot where you start planning your return visit before you’ve even checked out.
