La Locanda di Corrado
Cerreto Guidi, ItalyYou know what? I almost drove right past La Locanda di Corrado the first time I visited Cerreto Guidi – it’s tucked away on Via della Buca in this unassuming building that honestly looks like it could be someone’s renovated family home. Which, I later found out, it sort of is. The whole place has this authentic Tuscan vibe that you just can’t fake, probably because Corrado (yeah, there’s actually a Corrado) seems to have put his heart into every corner of this 4-star gem. The moment you step inside, there’s this wonderful smell of old wood and fresh flowers, and the reception area feels more like walking into a well-traveled friend’s living room than a hotel lobby.
What really gets me about this place is how it manages to feel both polished and genuinely local at the same time. The rooms – I mean, they’re beautifully done with these thick stone walls that keep everything blissfully cool even in August, and the beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in boutique Italian hotels, let’s be honest). But it’s the little things that make it special: the way the morning light filters through those traditional shutters, how you can hear the church bells from San Leonardo just down the hill, the fact that Corrado will actually sit down and draw you a map to the best osteria in town. The bathrooms are modern without being sterile, and – this matters if you’re traveling with luggage – there’s proper storage space, not just a tiny wardrobe that fits three hangers.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to explore this part of Tuscany without fighting tourist crowds. Cerreto Guidi itself is this sleepy little town where locals still do their shopping at the weekly market, and you’re maybe twenty minutes from Vinci (yes, that Vinci) and about forty-five minutes to Florence when you want your Renaissance fix. Parking is easy – there’s a small lot behind the hotel that’s included, which saves you the headache of circling narrow medieval streets with a rental car. I’d probably avoid visiting during the grape harvest season if you’re a light sleeper, though – the whole town gets pretty lively in the early morning hours. The 8.9 rating this place has earned feels about right; it’s not flashy or over-the-top luxurious, but everything works exactly as it should, and you get the sense that someone actually cares about whether you have a good stay.

All recomendations for this inn. We are hoping to vist again soon...
What could be improved: None
What could be improved: The nearby church rang the bells every day and quite early in the morning.
coffee tea available fridge very spacious bathroom with a lovely powerful hot shower. comfy bed, Parking close by
self check in didn’t meet any staff / host but spoke on the phone when we arrived and she was very happy and helpful.
What could be improved: We were disappointed that the restaurant opposite which is advertised as part of the accommodation was not open perhaps the site should advise the opening / closing days hours of this restaurant or maybe we should have asked however we did find a fabulous restaurant further away approx 10km which we really enjoyed but initially after driving many km’s and hours that day we really didn’t want to drive to eat but never mind we did enjoy our stay :)
What could be improved: It needs a whole-body mirror
What could be improved: We arrived back to our room at 9.45pm to find the restaurant opposite was having a pool party and all the reserved hotel parking, restaurant parking, and any off road parking was full. It took us half an hour trying to get parked and had to speak to the restaurant owner. There was also loud music coming from the party which our room faced out to. The air conditioning unit in the room was not cool enough for the heat even when set to full and 15°C.
