Il Valentino Luxury Houses
Florence, ItalyLook, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Florence, and Il Valentino Luxury Houses on Via Cavour is one of those spots that actually lives up to its name – which honestly surprised me a bit. You know how “luxury” gets thrown around everywhere these days. But walking into this place, there’s something immediately different about it. The building itself has that solid Florentine elegance you can’t fake, and they’ve done this clever thing where it feels like upscale apartments rather than hotel rooms. I mean, you get actual living spaces with kitchenettes and separate areas to spread out, which is pretty rare in the historic center. The staff genuinely knows their stuff too – not just the rehearsed tourist spiel, but real recommendations about which trattoria has the best ribollita and when to hit the Oltrarno markets.
What really sold me on this place is the location situation. Via Cavour is one of those streets that runs right through the heart of things without being touristy-chaotic, if that makes sense. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Duomo – I timed it because I’m weird like that – but you’re not dealing with the constant crowds and street performers outside your window. The Accademia (where Michelangelo’s David lives) is right around the corner, and here’s something most people don’t realize: you can actually walk to both the main train station and the Arno river in about ten minutes from here. Plus, there’s this little alimentari next door where the owner, Maria, makes these incredible panini if you want to grab breakfast and eat it in the nearby Giardino dei Semplici – which is this hidden botanical garden that most tourists completely miss.
The rooms themselves are spacious by European standards, and they’ve got this modern-meets-Renaissance thing going on that could’ve been cheesy but somehow works. Air conditioning that actually functions (crucial in summer), good water pressure, and – this is key – proper blackout curtains because those church bells start early. I stayed during peak season in July and yeah, it’s pricier then, but honestly worth it when you consider you’re getting apartment-style space in one of the best neighborhoods in the city. The 9.2 rating isn’t just hype – it’s what happens when a place pays attention to details like having enough outlets near the bed and providing actual coffee (not just instant) in the kitchen area. If you’re planning to stay more than a couple nights and want to feel like you’re living in Florence rather than just passing through, this is your spot.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: Loved everything
What could be improved: It is not possible to have a car because of the strict city zoning rules. Only commercial vehicles and taxis can drive through the street.
Very good location. huge accommodation, very hospitable, modern, comfortable with all amenities. 3 families, 11 people, very comfortable.
What could be improved: Minor-some of the pots/pans in the kitchen could use replacement.
One drawback is that there are 2 rooms that are right above a pub and very noisy at night. Need to think about additional insulation in these rooms, other than that everything was great, excellent value
What could be improved: There was nothing that I didn’t like
What could be improved: There was nothing to dislike although, unfortunately it would not be suitable for disabled guests as there are lots of stairs. And the toilet roll holder in the far toilet needs fixing
