Hotel Parma e Oriente Wellness & Spa
Montecatini Terme, ItalyYou know what struck me first about Hotel Parma e Oriente? The name sounds way more intimidating than the actual place. I mean, it’s this surprisingly welcoming spot right on Via Cavallotti – and honestly, that’s one of the quieter streets in Montecatini Terme, which is saying something since the whole town has this wonderfully sleepy vibe anyway. The building itself has that classic Italian hotel look (think cream-colored facade with green shutters), but inside it’s been updated without losing that old-world charm. Check-in was refreshingly quick – the front desk staff actually remembered my name by day two, which doesn’t happen often at 4-star places.
The wellness side of things is where this hotel really shines, and I get why they put “Wellness & Spa” right in the name. The spa facilities are genuinely impressive – not just a couple massage rooms thrown together as an afterthought. They’ve got this thermal pool area that connects to the outdoor garden, and the water temperature is perfect year-round (I was there in October and it was absolute bliss). What I really appreciated was how they incorporated the natural thermal springs that Montecatini is famous for – you’re literally soaking in the same mineral-rich water that’s been drawing visitors here for centuries. The treatment rooms are spacious and quiet, though I’d book spa appointments early since they fill up, especially during the shoulder seasons when all the Northern Europeans descend on Tuscany.
The rooms are solid – not Instagram-worthy modern, but comfortable in that Italian way where everything just works. Mine faced the internal courtyard, which meant zero street noise (always a win), and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious with one of those rain showers that actually has good pressure. The breakfast spread was better than expected too – proper Italian coffee, fresh pastries from a local bakery, and they don’t skimp on the prosciutto. Location-wise, you’re about a 10-minute walk to the main thermal park area where all the action is, but close enough to those little family-run restaurants tucked away on the side streets – there’s this amazing place called Osteria del Borgo just two blocks over that locals actually eat at. Parking is included, which saves you the headache of dealing with Montecatini’s somewhat confusing ZTL zones. The 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what you want from a thermal spa town hotel: relaxation, good service, and that slower pace that makes you remember why you needed a vacation in the first place.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: Would have liked more electric sockets !!
Nowadays people rely on laptops, phones etc and all need to be charged
What could be improved: Shower space was limited and felt cramped.
What could be improved: A kettle in the room would have been an added value to make a cup of coffee.
What could be improved: Lack of parking made it difficult. The man on the evening staff was rude every night.
Good location for exploring Tuscany as two railway stations within walking distance
What could be improved: Typical of Italy as a whole, there is no good value way to buy in to half board (adding dinners to B&B).
What could be improved: nothing really.
