Hotel Manzoni Wellness&Spa
You know what struck me first about Hotel Manzoni? It’s actually tucked away on this tree-lined stretch of Viale Manzoni that feels refreshingly quiet compared to the bustle around Montecatini’s main thermal park area. I mean, you’re still just a five-minute walk from all the action at Tettuccio and Excelsior springs, but when you step onto their terrace in the evening, there’s this lovely sense of calm that settles over everything. The building itself has that classic Italian elegance thing going on β not flashy, just solid and welcoming in a way that makes you want to sink into one of their lobby armchairs with a glass of wine.
The spa is honestly where this place really shines, and I get why they put “Wellness” right there in the name. It’s not just some afterthought wellness center β they’ve clearly put thought into creating spaces that actually help you unwind. The treatment rooms have this warm, cocoon-like feel, and the thermal circuit takes advantage of Montecatini’s natural springs in a way that feels authentic rather than gimmicky. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to understand that not everyone wants to be chatted at constantly; they read the room well and knew when to let you just… be. The pool area can get a bit crowded during peak season (especially around August), but honestly, most places in Montecatini do.
The rooms are comfortable without being particularly memorable β clean lines, decent storage, and those shutters that actually block out the morning light if you’re trying to sleep in. Some of the bathrooms are a bit compact, but the water pressure is solid and everything feels recently updated. What really won me over was the attention to small details: they stock local Tuscan toiletries that smell incredible, there’s actually enough counter space for your stuff, and the air conditioning works properly (not always a given in older Italian hotels). The breakfast spread is pretty generous too β good coffee, fresh pastries from a local bakery, and they don’t skimp on the prosciutto and cheese selection. You’ll probably end up eating more than you planned, which is fine because you can always walk it off exploring the surrounding hills or heading down to the Parco delle Terme for an afternoon stroll. It’s the kind of place where you settle in easily and find yourself extending your stay an extra day just because leaving feels like too much effort.

However when I asked for milk I was supplied with a jug. I travel with sachets and we bought a packet of tea locally.
The room had a good amount of plug points, so we could charge our pads etc.
Breakfast.
