You know what struck me first about Hotel Glance In Florence? The name actually makes sense once you’re there. From the upper floors, you get these quick glimpses of the Duomo between buildings – nothing panoramic, mind you, but those little stolen views that make you smile while you’re brushing your teeth. The hotel sits right on Via Nazionale, which honestly is one of those streets that feels authentically Florentine without being touristy. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Mercato Centrale, and locals actually shop there instead of just tourists hunting for leather bags.

The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Italian feel – thick walls that actually keep the street noise down (crucial on Via Nazionale, trust me). Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that overly enthusiastic concierge theater you get at some places. The staff speaks excellent English but they’re not performing hospitality, if you know what I mean – they’re just helpful people who happen to work at a hotel. My room was on the third floor, and here’s something I appreciated: the elevator is properly sized, not one of those coffin-like contraptions you squeeze into at older European hotels. The rooms themselves are what I’d call thoughtfully updated – modern bathroom with excellent water pressure, air conditioning that actually works during Florence’s brutal summers, but they kept the high ceilings and original hardwood floors that give you that sense of place.

What really won me over was the breakfast situation. They serve it in this bright room that opens onto a little courtyard, and honestly, it’s where you realize this place gets it right. Fresh cornetti from a local bakery (not those sad hotel pastries), proper espresso, and the staff knows regulars by name within two days. The whole vibe is more like staying at a well-run Italian family business than a corporate hotel. Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned – far enough from the Ponte Vecchio chaos that you can actually walk down your street without dodging tour groups, but close enough that you’re at the Uffizi in ten minutes on foot. Plus, there’s a fantastic little osteria called Il Latini just around the corner on Via dei Palchetti that serves the kind of ribollita that makes you understand why Florentines never leave Florence. The 8.7 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything works exactly as it should, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re planning to spend most of your time wandering around one of the world’s most beautiful cities.

  We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel, and next time we are in Florence, we will book it again. The rooms are so comfortable, clean, and modern. The rooftop pool was essential in order to cool down from the heat of Florence!

  Hotel only few mins. walking distance to train station and leather market. Area very congested, but it is in convenient spot. Hotel room beautiful but small. Roof top is great with good music and bar. Didn't use pool, but good size and beautiful views. Staff wonderful and friendly. Good breakfast.

  The rooftop pool is what drew us to this property–very relaxing. The location in proximity to the main tourist attractions is great (~7 minute walk to Duomo) but this brings with it a lot of tourist and some homeless folks late at a night. The breakfast was fantastic! ~5 minute walk to the train station.

  Excellent and friendly service, close to train station and fairly central for access to local landmarks. Delicious breakfast with too much to choose. The rooftop pool was the cherry on top!

  Fair breakfast, with good options of protein, dairy, breads, fruits, juice and pastry. Regarding location, the hotel sits in between the Santa Maria Novela train station and the Duomo, which makes it really good to walkers. The pool has sun light the entire day and provides an awesome sunset view. The staff's excellent mood is definitely a plus! Would stay here again.

  Conveniently located close to the Duomo, the small Hotel Glance was wonderful! The staff were so helpful and kind. Our room was spacious, AC was great, bed was comfy and we loved the rooftop bar and pool. We will absolutely stay here again.
