Four Seasons Hotel Firenze
Florence, ItalyLook, I’ve stayed at plenty of fancy hotels in Florence, but the Four Seasons on Borgo Pinti is something else entirely. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, this is way nicer than I expected”? That’s exactly what happened here. The building itself is this stunning 15th-century palazzo that honestly makes you feel like you’re staying in a Renaissance painting – but with really, really good Wi-Fi and air conditioning that actually works (trust me, not a given in Florence).
What I love about this location is that it’s tucked away in the San Marco district, so you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos around the Duomo, but you’re still close enough to walk everywhere that matters. I mean, you can stroll to the Accademia in about ten minutes, and the Uffizi is maybe a 15-minute walk through some of the prettiest streets in the city. The staff actually knows the neighborhood – when I asked about avoiding crowds at the markets, the concierge gave me this detailed rundown of which days and times to hit Sant’Ambrogio market versus San Lorenzo. That kind of local insight is worth its weight in gold.
The rooms themselves are gorgeous without being stuffy, if that makes sense. High ceilings, original frescoes in some suites, but the beds are modern and incredibly comfortable. I stayed in a garden view room and honestly spent way too much time just sitting by the window with my morning coffee, watching the gardeners tend to what has to be one of the most beautiful hotel gardens I’ve ever seen. The bathrooms are proper marble affairs – the kind where you actually want to take a bath. Fair warning though: if you’re here during peak season (basically April through October), book dinner reservations early because Il Palagio, their restaurant, fills up fast. The food is excellent, but it’s definitely a splurge even by Four Seasons standards.
One thing that really stood out was how quiet it is at night. Florence can get pretty noisy, especially in summer when everyone’s out until all hours, but Borgo Pinti is residential enough that you can actually sleep with the windows open. The street parking situation is basically nonexistent (welcome to Florence), but they have valet service that’s efficient and the guys speak multiple languages. Check-in was smooth even though I arrived way earlier than I should have – they stored my bags and let me use the spa facilities while my room was being prepared.
Is it expensive? Absolutely. But if you’re going to splurge on one hotel in Italy, this is the kind of place that makes you understand why people save up for these experiences. The 9.4 rating isn’t just numbers – it’s the kind of place where every detail feels considered, from the way they fold your towels to the fact that someone actually irons your newspaper in the morning. It’s old-world luxury that doesn’t feel pretentious, which in Florence is honestly harder to find than you’d think.

What could be improved: Gym is disaster however the rest of the hotel is amazing
What could be improved: Sometimes the service was slow at the pool and terrace restaurant.
What could be improved: so expensive
What could be improved: The food didn’t blow us away
it was an amazing experience that we will for sure come back to, during the spring or summer.
the grounds have a beautiful garden that you can enjoy with many sights and pieces of art work to see on your walk.
while the hotel itself is divided into two beautiful buildings on either side of the garden. Each building has a distinct style with art throughout.
the rooms were spacious and very comfy.
the breakfast and dinning restaurants are highly recommended as well.
we were welcomed by the great staff throughout our stay and all our requests were met.
5/5.
What could be improved: Breakfast was so simple, even though its delicious, it could be improved with added complexity or variety. Especially when we wanted authentic Italian desserts and cheese selections.
What makes this hotel stand out is the staff who always go that little bit extra to make you feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble, they set the standard for other Four Seasons around the world
What could be improved: Nothing, it’s perfect
