First Impressions

Walking up to Borgo Guelfo VI on Via Faenza, you immediately sense you’ve found something special in Florence. This four-star boutique property sits right in the thick of things — I mean, you’re literally steps from the Duomo and all the major sights. The building itself has that authentic Florentine charm without feeling stuffy or overly formal, which honestly can be hard to find in the city center. The location puts you at the heart of everything worth seeing.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s what I love about this spot — you can walk to Santa Maria Novella train station in about five minutes, but you’re also close enough to the Mercato Centrale that you’ll smell the fresh produce and hear the morning bustle. The location score of 9.5 isn’t just marketing fluff; you really are in the sweet spot where locals still live and work alongside the tourist areas. I’ve noticed couples seem particularly drawn to this place, and I get why — there’s something romantic about being able to stroll to dinner without dealing with crowds or long taxi rides. The neighborhood strikes that rare balance between authentic and accessible.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had this perfect balance of modern comfort and Italian character. You know what struck me most? The attention to detail — proper reading lights, enough outlets for your devices, and windows that actually open (which isn’t always a given in historic buildings). The bathrooms are well-designed too, with decent water pressure and space to spread out your things. It’s not flashy, but everything works exactly as it should. The furnishings reflect both style and practicality.

Practical Perks

One thing that sets Borgo Guelfo VI apart is the private parking available on-site. If you’ve ever tried to navigate Florence by car, you’ll understand why this is actually a big deal — most places in the centro storico don’t offer this option. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood and can point you toward the best gelato spots (hint: skip the touristy places near the Ponte Vecchio). They’re also realistic about timing — they’ll tell you when to avoid certain streets during rush hour or market days. This level of local knowledge makes a real difference.

Why Guests Love It

What really makes this place work is how it feels authentically Florentine without sacrificing the amenities you actually need. You’re not staying in some sterile chain hotel, but you’re also not roughing it in a converted medieval tower with questionable plumbing. The 7.9 rating reflects what I experienced — solid, reliable, and well-positioned for exploring the city. Couples especially seem to appreciate the intimate scale and the fact that you can easily walk hand-in-hand to dinner without planning your entire evening around transportation. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re living in Florence for a few days rather than just visiting it. The overall experience justifies the four-star designation.

Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Tuscany before olive harvests fill pressing rooms with aromatic queues.

Floor plan is great with 2 large rooms: a living/ kitchen/dining area and a bedroom. Feels large, roomy and comfortable. The apartment was clean and quiet. Black out curtains in both rooms. Hot water and air conditioner both worked well. Good location near train station and grocery store.

Location was great. Within 5 min walk from the Firenze S.M Novella station. Also very close walking distance to the main attractions and city centre. The apartment felt very secure and has a nice lookout over the courtyard.

Very nice host and good location. Underground parking was very comfortable. Kitchen has minimal essentials which was more than enough for our short stay. Not for longer stays probably.

Conveniently and centrally located. Less than 10 mins walk to both train station and Duomo.
The area is lined with a good variety of eateries namely Italian, Chinese, bubble tea, Taiwan dessert.
Further down, you can find korean restaurants too!

Lovely floral scent filled the garden whenever one walked past.😍

A comfortable and spacious modern apartment set in irs own small complex with a common garden area. Well equipped and clean with good Aircon, a must in summer months. Great location, a 10 minute walk to the Duomo, many good restaurants and cafes nearby, close to the famous covered market. Excellent secure parking in the underground garage with lift access to the apartment.. Friendly and helpful staff. If you are driving it's difficult to find initially due to the one way system. It represents good value in an expensive tourist destination. We will stay here again. Recommended.

- central location was great.
- also having a parking right in the building was very convenient
- having access to a washer dryer ($) in the basement was also good although I thought it was going to be in the apartment
