Flom Boutique Hotel
Florence, ItalyFirst Impressions
Walking up to Flom Boutique Hotel on Via Guelfa, you’d honestly be forgiven for almost missing it — this place doesn’t scream for attention with flashy signage or doormen in fancy uniforms. What it does have is this understated charm that feels authentically Florentine. The entrance sits quietly among the typical Renaissance buildings of San Lorenzo, and I mean that in the best possible way. You know you’re somewhere special the moment you step inside, where modern touches blend seamlessly with the neighborhood’s historic character.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about San Lorenzo — it’s where Florence actually lives and breathes beyond the tourist crowds. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Duomo, but Via Guelfa feels like you’ve discovered something locals have been keeping to themselves. The famous San Lorenzo Market is practically on your doorstep, which means incredible leather goods and that authentic Florentine buzz every morning. Couples absolutely love this spot (and honestly, I can see why with that 9.3 location rating), because you can easily stroll to all the major sights but retreat to a neighborhood that feels genuinely residential when you need a break from the madness.
The Rooms
The rooms at Flom Boutique Hotel strike this perfect balance between contemporary comfort and Tuscan warmth. I was impressed by how they’ve managed to create spaces that feel both intimate and airy — no small feat in a historic building. The design is clean and thoughtful without being sterile, with touches that remind you you’re in Italy without hitting you over the head with it. What really works is the attention to practical details — good lighting for reading, proper storage space, and bathrooms that actually function well (trust me, this isn’t always a given in Florence’s older buildings).
Breakfast Experience
The breakfast setup here is refreshingly straightforward — a continental buffet that focuses on quality over quantity. You’ll find proper Italian coffee (obviously), fresh pastries that taste like they came from the neighborhood bakery, and a selection of local cheeses and cured meats. It’s not trying to be everything to everyone, which I actually appreciate. The dining area has this lovely morning light, and there’s something satisfying about starting your day with a proper Italian breakfast before heading out to explore the city.
Why Guests Love It
What makes Flom Boutique Hotel work so well is its complete lack of pretension combined with genuine attention to the guest experience. The staff clearly know Florence inside and out — they’ll point you toward that little trattoria around the corner that doesn’t have an English menu but serves the best ribollita in the neighborhood. You’re staying somewhere that feels connected to the real Florence, not some sanitized tourist version of it. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about being tucked away on this quiet street while still being steps from everything you came to see. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve found your own little corner of the city.
Hotel in Tuscany reservations surge before white truffle fairs when hilltown piazzas brim with foodies.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: nothing to complain about
What could be improved: Nothing to dislike
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: Having my loose change taken from my room
One small idea for improvement: it would be great if the staff could wear name tags. It makes it easier to communicate and, even better, to mention them by name in a review. There were so many people I would have liked to thank personally but I just can’t remember all their names.
Also, it would be nice if the breakfast buffet had a small cold counter to keep the cold cuts fresher for longer.
Overall, definitely 5 out of 5. We would happily stay here again.
And before I forget, I have to mention Edward from Firenze, who put all his skills to work and made me the best Aperol I’ve had so far on this trip. Cheers to him for that extra holiday feeling!

What could be improved: A 4 star hotel should replenish water daily. I also think could have more plug points. The road slightly ahead was dug up and made walking a little inconvenient.
The staff is exceptionally courteous. Leonardo, the receptionist, is a wonderful, kind, and welcoming young man – I’ve never encountered service like this anywhere else. He answers questions and gives recommendations with a smile.
If I return to Florence, I’ll definitely come back and will be happy to see him again.
Thanks, shahar
