Dimora Del Corso Di Montepulciano
Montepulciano, ItalyLook, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Tuscany, but Dimora Del Corso hit different from the moment I walked up Via di Gracciano nel Corso. You know that feeling when you’re dragging your suitcase over ancient cobblestones, slightly lost and wondering if you made the right booking choice? Well, this place immediately made me forget all that stress. The building itself is one of those converted Renaissance palazzos that Montepulciano does so well – honestly, half the joy is just being inside something that’s been welcoming travelers for centuries, though obviously with much better plumbing now.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep all the character while actually making it comfortable. The rooms have these incredible wooden beam ceilings and stone details that you can’t fake, but the beds are properly modern and the Wi-Fi actually works (miracle in these old buildings, trust me). I mean, my room looked directly onto the main corso, which sounds like it might be noisy, but Montepulciano isn’t exactly Times Square – the most action you’ll get is locals chatting over their evening passeggiata and maybe some wine-happy tourists stumbling back from dinner. Actually quite charming, especially with the windows open on a warm evening.
The staff genuinely knows their stuff about the town, which matters more than you’d think. They pointed me toward this little enoteca just two minutes away that I never would’ve found otherwise, and when I mentioned wanting to visit some wineries, they didn’t just hand me a generic brochure – they asked what I actually liked drinking and made real recommendations. That’s the kind of local knowledge that makes a difference when you’re only in town for a few days. The breakfast setup is solid too, nothing fancy but proper Italian coffee and pastries that don’t taste like they’ve been sitting around since yesterday. Plus, being right on the main street means you’re literally steps from everything worth seeing in Montepulciano – the cathedral, the town hall, all those wine shops that’ll happily let you taste their Vino Nobile until you can barely walk back to your room. The whole experience just felt authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find, especially at this price point. Sure, it’s not some glossy resort, but that’s exactly why it works.

What could be improved: Small bathroom but functional. Bed needs replacing
What could be improved: The property is very good and offers a lot space. the host is very kind with us - thank you!
What could be improved: Bathroom too small, shower stall looks too cheap.
He showed me around a huge apartment which was super clean and fully equipped. It had a full kitchen with a large fridge-freezer, oven and dishwasher. The bathroom was nice and big with a large shower. The bed room had a huge double bed and a massive walk-in closet. Living room had a nice large smart TV with Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, etc. There was air-con in all rooms too. I really enjoyed my stay here as it felt like I was staying in my own apartment instead of one that belonged to someone else. Amedeo had provided me with his contact number so I could reach him at any time if I needed anything at all, and he also helped arrange a taxi very early for the morning I was leaving as I had an early train and flight. Being a small town I also bumped into him a few times while strolling about, and each time he made sure to ask if I needed anything.
Montepulciano is a lovely little town with many cafés and restaurants, and lots of little knick-knack shops for souvenirs, and is perfect for a relaxing stroll at any time of the day, although be forewarned that the town is hilly and very steep in places. It is also a perfect location to explore the incredibly beautiful Tuscany countryside either by bike or by car.
Thanks for a great stay and for all your help Amedeo. Hopefully I can return again next year!
