Capanna Suites
First Impressions
Honestly, when you first pull up to Capanna Suites along that winding country road, you’ll understand why couples are absolutely smitten with this place. This four-star property sits perfectly positioned in the rolling hills outside Montalcino, and I mean perfectly — you’re far enough from town to feel like you’ve escaped everything, but close enough that a quick drive gets you to those legendary wine cellars. The free parking right on-site is actually a bigger deal than you might think, especially when you’re navigating these narrow Tuscan roads with a rental car.
The Tuscan Countryside Setting
What really gets me about this location is how it captures that quintessential Tuscan experience without feeling touristy. You’re surrounded by those famous crete senesi — those clay hills that look almost lunar in certain light — and honestly, the sunsets from here are something else entirely. The property feels intimate and secluded, which explains why it scores so incredibly high with guests (that 9.4 rating isn’t just luck). You know what’s nice? You can actually hear the countryside here — birds, distant church bells from Montalcino, maybe a tractor in the distance.
The Accommodations
The suites themselves strike this perfect balance between rustic Tuscan charm and modern comfort. Each room feels thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter, with those thick stone walls that keep things naturally cool even in summer heat. I particularly appreciate how they’ve managed to maintain the authentic architecture while sneaking in all the amenities you actually need. The spaces feel generous too — not cramped like some countryside properties where “cozy” becomes code for “tiny.”
Morning Rituals
Breakfast here is where you really start to understand the Italian approach to hospitality. They offer this lovely spread that mixes continental basics with proper Italian touches — think fresh pastries alongside local cheeses and cured meats, all served buffet-style so you can take your time. What I love is how they source locally when possible, so you’re tasting the region even before you head out exploring. The dining area opens onto those incredible views, which means your morning coffee comes with a side of rolling hills that seem to stretch forever.
Why Guests Love It
Look, there’s a reason couples rate this place so highly for romantic getaways — it delivers that dreamy Tuscan experience without any of the pretension you sometimes find at countryside hotels. You’re positioned perfectly for day trips to Montalcino’s wine estates (seriously, some of Italy’s best Brunello producers are practically neighbors), but you’ll also find yourself just wanting to sit on the terrace with a glass of wine and watch the light change across those hills. The staff seems to understand that sometimes the best service is knowing when to leave guests alone to soak it all in. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your return visit before you’ve even checked out.
Apartments in Tuscany suit slow travelers with stone fireplaces, countryside terraces, and farmhouse kitchens.

The restaurant was excellent and staff very helpful.
The room was wonderful, very tastefully done and the bed and linens very comfortable. Everything worked well.
Modern touches like tv and coffee machine were great.
Enjoyed the spa facilities time, the restaurant, the breakfast and the wine tasting.
Access to ground floor room/suite and property was easy for myself with limited mobility.
Parking on site easy.
Pool area looked fabulous but we didn’t have time to use it this visit.
Location great. Close to Montalcino, but remote enough to be a tranquil relaxing 5 star escape.
