Bio Agriturismo La Bell’Antiglia
Manciano, ItalySo I stumbled across Bio Agriturismo La Bell’Antiglia completely by accident – well, actually my GPS got confused trying to find another place in Montemerano and I ended up on this winding road near La Campiglia. Honestly? Best navigation mistake I’ve ever made. This isn’t your typical agriturismo where they’ve slapped “bio” on everything for marketing points. You can tell the moment you pull up (parking is easy, by the way) that this family actually lives and breathes the organic farming thing. The property sits on this gentle hillside where you can see their olive groves stretching down toward the valley, and there’s this incredible smell of wild herbs that just… I mean, it hits you the second you step out of your car.
What really got me was how genuine everything feels here. The rooms – I stayed in one of the renovated farmhouse sections – have those thick stone walls that keep things naturally cool even in August heat. You know what I love? They didn’t try to make it all Instagram-perfect rustic. There are authentic old beams overhead, sure, but also proper modern bathrooms and WiFi that actually works. The breakfast situation is honestly incredible – they use eggs from their own chickens, make fresh ricotta, and serve this honey that’s so good I bought three jars to take home. The family running the place, they’re not hovering, but they genuinely care about showing you the real Maremma. Maria (I think that was her name?) told me about this little osteria in Montemerano’s old center that I never would have found otherwise – it’s tucked behind the main piazza where most tourists never wander.
Here’s the thing about staying here – you’re about a ten-minute walk into Montemerano proper, which means you get the peaceful countryside vibe but can still grab dinner at places like Da Caino without driving. The thermal baths at Saturnia are maybe twenty minutes away, and honestly, coming back to La Bell’Antiglia after a day soaking in those hot springs feels perfect. It’s quiet enough that you’ll actually hear the cicadas at night, but not so isolated that you feel cut off from civilization. I stayed during shoulder season in October and had the pool area mostly to myself, though I imagine it gets busier in summer. The organic wine they produce on-site is… well, let’s just say I understand why their rating is 9.1 out of 10. This place gets what agriturismo is supposed to be about – not just a farm with beds, but a real glimpse into how people actually live in this part of Tuscany.

At the breakfast you would find fresh handmade products (cake, apple pie, marmalade, fresh juice, cottage cheese, bread) and they would make you whatever coffee you wanted!
Also, even though we had early check out (7.00am) she left juice and cake at our room the night before so that we don't leave without breakfast. Absolutely thoughtful and kind of her.
The place is quite and relaxing! Would definitely go back if I ever be in Montemerano again!
What could be improved: Road leading to the location
What could be improved: nothing- it was all perfect!
Home cooked breakfast was delicious.
View is amazing.
What could be improved: It’s too expensive, compared to similar properties we’d visited in Italy.
Property is nice, but it was too cold when we visited, to make use of the pool or hot tub.
We had to pay extra to use the spa (honestly we only sit in the steam room for 20 mins) - would’ve made more sense that it’s included in the price of the stay.
