First Impressions

Walking up to B&B Terrazza Belfiore on Viale Belfiore, you immediately get that “I made the right choice” feeling. This four-star gem sits in the Santa Maria Novella district — honestly one of the best spots you could ask for in Florence. The building has that classic Florentine elegance without being stuffy, and you can tell from the moment you step inside that someone actually cares about the details here.

Perfect Location

Here’s what I love about this area — you’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the tourist chaos to actually breathe. The Santa Maria Novella train station is practically around the corner, which makes arriving with luggage so much easier than those places buried deep in the historic center. You can walk to the Duomo in about fifteen minutes, but you know what? Sometimes I’d just wander the quieter streets around Viale Belfiore because there’s something really authentic about this neighborhood that the guidebooks don’t quite capture.

The Rooms

Let me tell you about the beds — they’re genuinely comfortable, not just “hotel comfortable.” I mean, I’m someone who usually tosses and turns the first night in a new place, but here I actually slept through the night. The room itself feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a typical B&B. There’s attention to comfort without all the unnecessary frills, and the terrace views (when you get one) are pretty spectacular — you’re looking out over Florence’s rooftops with glimpses of those famous domes in the distance.

Morning Rituals

Breakfast here is properly Italian, which I actually prefer to those massive international buffets you get at chain hotels. Fresh pastries, good coffee, local ingredients — it’s simple but done right. The staff seems to understand that breakfast should ease you into your day, not overwhelm you with choices. Plus, eating breakfast while looking out at Florence waking up? That’s the kind of moment that makes you remember why you travel in the first place.

Why Guests Love It

The location score of 9.1 isn’t just numbers on a website — it reflects something real about how this place works for travelers. Couples especially seem to get it (they rated the location 9.1 for romantic trips), and I can see why. There’s something about being in a residential area that still puts you minutes from major sights — you feel like you’re experiencing Florence rather than just checking it off a list. The whole experience feels more personal than your typical hotel stay, probably because the owners clearly know their city and want you to love it as much as they do. This four-star property truly captures the essence of authentic Florentine hospitality.

This should be kept as a hidden gem in Florence but Gianluca and his lovely assistant deserve all the praise a host can get! The hospitality, communication and cleanliness is a 5 star hotel equivalent but in this case with genuine kindness!
I could write pages about Gianluca’s facilities and hospitality but summarising it I’d like to say that it literally felt like home. A final thing to add is that the breakfast you will have here is better than any other I had in my life in any kind of apartment or 4/5 star hotel. Book your staying in Florence here…. Thank me later 😊

The breakfast was great. The manager was very friendly and helpful. We told him that we only had one day in Florence so he gave us a map and circled 10 or 12 places that we shouldn't miss, that we could walk to. We made it to most of them and were very happy with his recommendations.

It was super quiet in the room even though it was right in the city due to the two sets of double glazed doors and windows. The room had a balcony giving a great view of the street. We could come and go as we pleased due being given the access codes to the building. There is a communal outer terrace with seats and tables, enclosed by well kept hedges even though you are on the second floor of the building. It was very close to the restaurants and city attractions plus the tram station was just a 5 minute walk. The central bus station was a 12 minute walk away and this was the meeting point for all the excursions. The central rail station was a 15 minute walk. The beds are large were very comfortable. There was lots of extra pillows to get your perfect sleeping position. The bathroom was modern and clean and the shower was excellent with a consistent water temperature. There was a fridge in the room and plenty of wardrobe hanging space.

Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. We had many delicious croissants and pastries. We were also given many other choices such as eggs, yogurt, toast, and plenty of coffee or cappuccinos.

Large room and bathroom. Very clean, great location. Great breakfast but you had to ask for things rather than be offered.
Host was helpful and was very happy to answer questions.
