B&B CASALISA
Fucecchio, ItalyI’ll be honest – I almost drove right past B&B Casalisa the first time I visited Galleno. Via Malemerende isn’t exactly a main thoroughfare, and the whole area has this quiet, tucked-away feel that makes you wonder if you’ve taken a wrong turn somewhere. But that’s actually part of what makes this place so special, you know? You’re staying in what feels like a real Tuscan neighborhood, not some tourist zone where everyone’s speaking English and selling postcards.
The B&B itself sits in this beautiful old building that Lisa (the owner) has clearly put her heart into restoring. When you walk in, there’s this immediate sense of… well, it’s hard to describe, but it feels like stepping into someone’s well-loved family home rather than a hotel. The floors have that satisfying creak that old Italian buildings do, and honestly, I found it charming – though if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe mention that when you book. Lisa greeted me with fresh coffee and this genuine warmth that you just can’t fake. She actually lives on the property, which means you get real local insights – like how the market in nearby Fucecchio is way better on Thursday mornings, or that the trail behind the property connects to some incredible hiking routes that most tourists never discover.
The rooms are what you’d expect from a 4-star place, but with these thoughtful touches that show someone actually cares about your experience. Mine had this view over the garden where Lisa grows herbs for breakfast (the basil smell drifting up in the morning was incredible), and the bathroom had one of those rain showers that actually works properly – you know how hit-or-miss those can be. What really impressed me was the little sitting area downstairs where guests naturally end up chatting in the evenings. I met a couple from Germany who’d been coming back for three years running, which honestly tells you everything you need to know about this place. They were the ones who told me about the osteria about ten minutes’ walk away – completely unmarked, just follow the sound of laughter and locals arguing about football.
Parking was easy enough in the small lot out front, and Galleno itself is perfectly positioned if you want to explore this part of Tuscany without dealing with Florence crowds. You’re close enough to hit the major sights but far enough away that you can actually breathe and enjoy the countryside. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not trying to be fancy or impress anyone, it’s just genuinely good at what it does. I mean, when the biggest “complaint” I can think of is that checkout felt too early because I wanted to linger over Lisa’s homemade pastries, you know you’ve found something special.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: Nothing
The host was so friendly and helpful and our children adored their cats. We loved our stay here and can’t wait to return!
What could be improved: No negative in this location.
What could be improved: A few mosquitos here and there
Laura was super welcomming, gave us great recommendations on where to eat (La Gola di Bacco is a must!) and it was always fun to have a talk with her. 😊
The room was spacious, the beds were great and we really liked having AC in the room. We enjoyed breakfast outside with view on the garden and the pool. For us it was the perfect central place to visit cities nearby.
We also enjoyed the company of the cats. 🐱
What could be improved: Not being able to stay here for a longer period (as it was a 2 night stop on our way to Napoli). But it's definitely on our "to visit again" list. 😊
