Art Hotel Villa Agape – Place of Charme
Florence, ItalyYou know what? I’ve walked past this place on Via Torre Del Gallo dozens of times heading up toward Piazzale Michelangelo, and I always wondered what it was like inside. Well, I finally stayed there last month and honestly – it’s one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special in Florence that most tourists completely miss.
The thing about Art Hotel Villa Agape is that it sits in this perfect sweet spot in Oltrarno where you’re close enough to everything but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the crowds stumbling back from the Ponte Vecchio at 2 AM. I mean, you can walk to Santo Spirito in maybe ten minutes, but the street itself is surprisingly quiet – almost residential feeling. The building has this authentic Florentine villa vibe that you just can’t fake, with original frescoes in some rooms and this gorgeous internal courtyard that catches the morning light perfectly. Actually, if you’re an early riser like me, grab your coffee and sit out there around 8 AM when the sun hits those old stone walls just right.
What really got me was how the staff seemed to actually know Florence, not just the tourist version. The guy at reception (I think his name was Marco?) gave me directions to this little osteria near San Frediano that I never would have found otherwise, and when I mentioned I was looking for good leather shops, he steered me away from the touristy spots near Santa Croce toward some family-run places in the neighborhood. The rooms themselves are comfortable without being flashy – mine had this massive window overlooking a garden, and the bed was actually decent, which honestly can be hit or miss in Italian hotels. The bathroom was modern but not aggressively so, if that makes sense. One small thing though – the wifi can be a bit spotty on the upper floors, so if you’re planning to work from your room, maybe mention that when you book. Parking is tricky in this part of town (like everywhere in Florence), but they have an arrangement with a garage about five minutes away, and it’s way less stressful than trying to navigate those narrow streets yourself. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you’re the type of traveler who wants to feel like you’re living in Florence rather than just passing through it.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: Nothing. Everything was great
What could be improved: Room was a little small for the price.
What could be improved: we were totally satisfied
What could be improved: Nothing about the villa, but if you are driving, maps may have you go through a ZLT area. The receptionist told us the ones outside of the city center are restrictions for older cars, and if you have a newer car you should be fine. But just double check with them cause we were driving for ages trying to find a path that didn’t go through one but to no avail.
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: USB charging options & overall electrical outlets could be better. - hairdryer stopped working.
What could be improved: We wouldn’t change a thing about the property!
What could be improved: Nothing. It was perfect
What could be improved: There was people moving furniture and chatting in the spaces outside the bedrooms late at night.
